There is no treasure quite like a marriage which stands the test of time. Our loudest prayer is that God would raise up this generation to understand the price of lifelong love and eagerly choose to pay it.

Imagine... what would your family, church, and society look like if three generations from now they can look back at a history of healthy, lasting (though imperfect) marriages? How will your marriage help shape the marriages of your children and your children's children?

How you choose to love each other in your marriage will have a MUCH greater impact in the generations to come than what you earn, accomplish, say, or do.

We remain incredibly thankful for the more mature, wiser, and older couples who have gone before us and modeled biblical love along the way. There truly is no treasure quite like a marriage which stands the test of time.

• For other couples, they're an encouragement and a bastion of hope.

• For their families, they're a steady reminder of strength and grace.

• For the Church, they pass along a legacy of faithfulness, endurance, and love.

• For society, they are a foundation for flourishing future generations.

As you look at your own marriage, remember that lifelong love is always a lifelong choice. Talk to any couple who has persevered and you'll hear stories of heartache, anger, frustration, and difficulty... BUT, you'll also hear stories of forgiveness, reconciliation, healing, grace, joy, and delight!

Marriage is an incredible gift and an immense responsibility. May we steward this gift well and may God bless our daily decisions to love one another His way instead of our own.

Stay fierce,
Ryan & Selena

Love is an action and a choice... and marriage is the promise to choose love whenever a choice must be made. Contrary to popular thought, falling in love doesn't *happen to us*. Loving someone is a choice that outlasts emotion and feeling, but often leads to deeper feelings of affection the more we choose it.

Feelings come and go, but biblical love NEVER waivers. It doesn't change even when we do. That's what fierce love is, and it’s what makes for a lasting marriage.

You might be asking, "What if my spouse rejects me or sins against me? What if he/she changes? What if I no longer have affectionate feelings toward him/her?" It’s tough and you’ll need God’s help, but still choose to love.

The most difficult moments are the most potent opportunities for love to be lived out in your life.

Christ showed us love when all seemed lost (Romans 5:8). He forgives limitlessly and his affection never waivers, even though we actively sin against him.

That's who Jesus is, and that's what love is. He is our example of pure love and we are called to let our marriages emulate Christ's relationship with the church.

Be encouraged! While we have Christ’s example, we also have help in the Holy Spirit. We need only to ask, trust, and obey.

How can you choose to love your spouse today?

Stay fierce,

There’s profound joy in the mutual and reckless pursuit of each other in marriage. Marriage requires a fierce tenacity that never gives up and never gives in.

What does this reckless pursuit actually look like in marriage? What enables it within every complex issue and circumstance you will face?

To start, look at Christ’s example. He pursues you without fail. It’s his steady pursuit that drew you to him, and it’s because of his love and grace alone that you’re in a relationship with him.

David writes, “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!” (Psalm 139:7-8). The psalmist is reflecting on God’s limitless pursuit of those he loves. The concept of a pursuing love has immense implications for your marriage.

Pursuit is active, not passive. It means to chase steadily with the goal of capture. This is why it’s vital to keep dating each other long after you marry. When you work with the expressed intent of capturing your spouse’s heart, you’re in active pursuit. And more importantly, when you’re having a hard time connecting, the pursuit continues.

May you throw out any and all backup plans in your marriage. When you do, you’ll enjoy the intimacy that comes only from pursuing unconditionally and being pursued exactly the same way.

Stay fierce,
Ryan & Selena

Every marriage starts with the words, "I do", but all lasting marriages are filled with countless, daily "I dos". To choose to truly love, we must choose "I do" in the day-to-day interactions of life.

I do...make you a priority.
I do...speak to you kindly.
I do...practice integrity when you're not around.
I do...honor you.
I do...make time for you.
I do...stop and listen to you.
I do...forgive.
I do...choose to never give up.
I do...choose put my phone down and have a real conversation with you.

This list could go on forever. Healthy marriage is filled with a lifetime of love as demonstrated through actions.
Feelings of love are great, and words expressing love are romantic. But make sure your feelings and words of love are always supported by actions of love.

Choose "I do" fiercely,
Ryan & Selena Frederick
