Excellence in Education Recognition Awarded to Kyle and Marti Futrell

Oct. 6, 2025 – Marble Falls ISD in partnership with the Marble Falls Education Foundation is proud to announce the 2025 recipients of the Excellence in Education Award are longtime Marble Falls ISD educators Kyle and Marti Futrell.
“We are excited to recognize the Futrells with this award,” said Marble Falls ISD Superintendent Jeff Gasaway. “Both Kyle and Marti Futrell have embodied the district vision of loving and inspiring students to achieve their fullest potential throughout their careers in Marble Falls, both in the classroom and outside of the classroom.”
Marti Futrell taught in MFISD for 33 years, shaping the academic and personal growth of countless students with her dedication, compassion and love for learning.
Kyle Futrell spent 31 years in the classroom, teaching math, technology, teen leadership and health education. Beyond academics, Kyle was also an influential coach, serving as the Mustangs’ offensive line coach for 25 years, helping lead teams to the playoffs and even a state semifinal appearance, while also serving as the head coach of the track and field program for 30 years, producing several district championships, collegiate athletes and even an Olympic silver medalist.
However, the Futrells’ legacy extends far beyond teaching and coaching. Marti Futrell missed only three Mustang football games in three decades, faithfully supporting Kyle Futrell’s teams and players. Together, they have inspired countless young people who are now raising families of their own here in Marble Falls. Since retiring, the Futrells continue to serve – volunteering at district athletic and fine arts events, mentoring students, and giving back to the community they love.
Kyle and Marti Futrell are parents to Marble Falls High School graduate Kyleigh Ann, and “Coach” and “GM” respectively to grandchildren Anderson and Zoe.
The Futrells were recognized at the beginning of halftime during the Mustangs’ game against Devine at Mustang Stadium Oct. 3.
“Marti and Kyle Futrell are the kindest, most loving people,” said MFEF Director Jeanna Jette. “Their pride in this community and their love for the Mustangs shines through in everything they do. They have given their hearts to Marble Falls and our district is stronger because of the Futrells.”
The Excellence in Education Award was created to recognize individuals whose dedication, service and leadership make an extraordinary difference in the lives of students, teachers, and our community.
