Organize a Porchfest for your neighborhood! A Porchfest is a grassroots music walking tour where local musicians perform on front porches, or front yard throughout a neighborhood. These free, walkable events promote local talent and neighborhood camaraderie and are easy to organize! Stroll from house to house, enjoying diverse music genres. You need just 1-2 volunteers to spearhead it. Ask neighbors if they would host a musician or band on their porch or front yard. Gather 5 or more addresses. Put out the word in the neighborhood that you are looking for musicians to play. You'll be surprised at the response. Make out a music schedule. Typically a porchfest is on a Sunday, around 3-6pm. Food trucks are a great addition to a porchfest. Food and music are a great combination. Performances can range from local singers, rock bands, and acoustic acts to spoken word, dancing, and visual arts installations. Porchfests aim to foster community connections by encouraging neighbors and visitors to explore, walk, and interact with the neighborhood. Porchfests are free to the public, great for families. Tips for musicians encouraged.
