Designing for two, with 1970s flair. ✨🦋

When Charlotte reached out, she was looking for an effortless wedding dress for her early spring wedding in NYC—with one very special consideration: a growing baby bump! 🤍

We wanted a silhouette that felt light, elegant, and completely comfortable, leaning into soft ’60s and ’70s high-waisted shapes that celebrate the moment without feeling restrictive. She fell in love with this reimagined 1970s plisse chiffon dress. The pearl accents, delicate sheer long sleeves, and soft empire flow felt perfect.

To give her a complete bespoke atelier experience on a tight timeline:
* We selected her gown during her initial visit while her family cheered over FaceTime from France.
* Rushed her tailored alterations upstairs in the atelier- adjusting the sleeve length, hemming, and crafting a custom veil to complete the look.
* Hand-packed and shipped the finished gown and veil directly to her, so she didn't have to stress about fitting trips.

She trusted us completely from afar, and seeing her float through Manhattan looking this radiant made every detail worth it. 🕊️

As summer draws to a close, we’re in the studio... busy preparing a new wave of restored and reimagined bridal pieces.

✨We love the magic of finding a piece with history and bringing it into the present.✨

From our collection of reimagined vintage wedding gowns to modern heirloom styling, every piece we touch is built to last—far beyond a single day.

✨ Tap the link in our bio to book an appointment to come in and explore our current vintage collection or discuss a custom restoration project.

A Vintage Reimagining✨
I love looking past the flaws of a vintage piece to imagine what it could be. 🦢

When I thrifted this 1950s dress in Vermont, it bore the marks of time—heavy staining under the arms and in the back - making a straight restoration impossible.

But the craftsmanship was breathtaking: delicate beaded lace appliqués that deserved a second life.

To elevate it into a full bridal piece, I carefully deconstructed the dress, saving the midriff draping and embellishment.

For the new foundation, I sourced a deadstock Carolina Herrera point d’esprit, designing a soft, ethereal skirt and gathered bodice that allows the original 1950s embellishments to shine.

The contour straps were crafted using pieces from the original skirt, and the back is detailed with rescued hand-rolled silk roses.

Giving old-world craftsmanship a fresh design is at the heart of what we do in the atelier.

Jumped on the trend because, honestly, we’ve always felt our Maybelle brides were kinda chic. ☁️✨

You can feel the difference of mid-century lace before you even touch it. 🦢

No synthetic sheen, no stiff polyester—just pure cotton threading, corded motifs, and natural fibers that breathe with the body. these archival textiles carry a depth of tone and texture that only dedicated artistry and time can create. working with them is a constant reminder of what happens when textiles are made without shortcuts.

If you’re tired of mass-produced polyester, come experience these archival laces in person at the boutique. Swipe through to see the details up close.

They say mother knows best, but in this case, my daughter found the best! 🌸

I couldn't resist showing you this incredibly special vintage ensemble she sourced for me in Vermont. It's a 1980s Priscilla of Boston, and anything but cookie-cutter.

A removable, sheer organza top lays beautifully over an updated ✂️structured strapless ball gown. The actual showstopper, though, is the artisanal embroidery—a beautiful cluster of pink lilac flowers and soft green leaves that adds that perfect 'personality-driven' pop of color.

I wish I could show it to you in person, but a savvy bride snapped this one up before it was even in the atelier for a week!

As a designer, my greatest joy isn't just reimagining these vintage garments, but also seeing how my daughters' discerning eyes and devotion to the 'slow fashion’ movement help keep Maybelle filled with true, one-of-a-kind treasures.
