If you see drones flying around, that’s simply because drones fly around.
Just like an airplane, they utilize the national airspace to fly, but have to stay below 400’ above ground level. There doesn’t need to be a special announcement.
I was threatened “I’ll shoot that down” this week by a concerned citizen because I was flying above his property. Yes, drones do that.
On the chance you see drones flying in Mankato this afternoon, a utility company will be flying them until around 6:00 tonight. They are checking and inspecting power poles. You are most likely to see the drones around Weagel Park, Stoltzman Rd., and Doc Jones Rd.
