The realistic price tag of a wedding is always the hardest obstacle to overcome when a bride begins planning a wedding. It's hard to grasp the oftentimes 500%+ inflation the wedding industry has experienced since our parents got married 30-40 years ago.

Is there one specific area that surprises you the most about this article? What one thing would you be able or willing to sacrifice if it was too expensive?

My parents' San Francisco wedding cost about $2,000, which in today’s money is roughly $10K. What it would actually cost to throw their wedding in 2017 is a whole other story.
