Julie Odum brings over 25 years of experience in the floral industry, combining aristic excellence with refined craftsmanship. As the Senior Florist for the esteemed University of Illinois, Julie blends her unique artistic vision and expertise to serve a wide range of high-profile clients visting the University of Illinois. Her and her team’s work is a trusted representation of the University’s prestige and hospitality.
Julie is also the owner of Flora Design Studio in Mahomet, Illinois, where her designs reflect a distinct blend of aristry and elegance. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois, and her background in fine art profoundly influences her design aesthetic, resulting in floral compositions that are both expressive, innovative, sophisticated and created with deep-rooted craftsmenship.
A long-standing member of the Illinois State Florist Assocation, one of the oldest and most recognized floral assocations in the county, Julie has pushed her artistic limits by competing in the Judy Borah Land of Lincoln Cup and the ISFA Designer of the Year competition, taking first place in every category throughout the years. Recently, Julie earned the distinguished title of the Illinois Designer of the Year for 2025 on the 120th anniversary of the association, a testament to her creativity, techincal excellence and dedication to her craft. It is a true honor to represent the Illinois State Florists’ Association and the University of Illinois in the coveted Mid America Cup Competition.
Julie is a passionate advocate for lifelong learning and actively pursues continuing education opportunities to stay at the forefront of floral trends, techniques, and industry innovations. Equally committed to giving back, she invests her time and expertise in mentoring emerging designers, fostering growth, confidence, and professionalism in the next generation of florists. Through workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and community involvement, Julie plays a vital role in elevating the local floral industry and ensuring its vibrant future.
