Funcho – 15-Year-Old Lusitano Gelding for Sale

Imported from Portugal and expertly trained by Haras Dos Cavaleiros, Funcho is a distinguished gelding with an impressive dressage record. In 2016, he won the Adult Male class in the Model and Movement category at the Americas Lusitano Cup. The following year, in 2017, he claimed the Dressage Championship title in the Prix St. Georges division at the Region 9 Championship.

Now gracefully retired from the show ring, Funcho is pasture sound and still goes on light rides. He is the ideal partner for an amateur rider seeking a reliable, well-schooled leisure horse. Funcho is light on the aids, comfortable in all gaits, and offers the confidence of a seasoned competitor with the gentle temperament of a schoolmaster.

Rocky DC & Andrew Arredondo – 1st Place in USEF Young Horse 4YO Test with 74.80%.
Quena DC & Andrew Arredondo – 1st Place in USEF First Level Test 3 with 65.60%.
Raja DC & Antonio Garcia – 1st Place in USEF Training Level Test 3 with 71.60%.

🏇 Haras Dressage USDF Recognized 2025 – Results Recap-

The first Haras Dressage USDF Recognized event of 2025 took place at Haras Hacienda on February 15-16, 2025, showcasing outstanding performances and remarkable achievements.
• Raja DC and Antonio Garcia made a strong debut at Training Level T3, scoring 71.80 and 71.60, securing High Point Champion and High Point Reserve Champion.
• Rocky DC, ridden by Andrés Arredondo, secured 2nd place in First Level T3 with 67.80.
• Norte DC, under Antonio Garcia, delivered impressive performances in PSG, scoring 72.35 and 70.00, earning 1st and 2nd place in the category, as well as High Point Reserve Champion and Reserve Champion titles.
• Governador Int. scored 69.79 and 70.44 in PSG, becoming Highest Point Champion and Highest Point Reserve Champion.
• Special mention to Quena DC and Quinoa DC, ridden by Andrés Arredondo, both scoring above 67 points in First Level Test 3.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Haras Dos Cavaleiros, we believe that when we share our love and knowledge of this ancient breed of horse with the public, we are also making the ancient culture of Portugal available to a wider audience. Through equestrian clinics and demonstrations at important shows and events, or through visits to our ranch, we welcome you to enjoy the beauty of these extraordinary horses, nurtured by a landscape created especially for them.

HISTORY

More than a decade ago, after getting to know and appreciate several other breeds, our equine journey led us to the Lusitano, the historic breed that is the wellspring of what we have come to call “The Join us and Live the Haras Experience.” We fell in love with this fabled breed, one of the oldest in the world, referred to by many aficionados as The Royal Horse of Europe. With the construction of our new ranch in Texas, we are now writing our own history in America. Here, we are keeping alive the legend of the first Lusitano horses, sons of Zephyr, the Greek God of the West Wind. As the story goes, in a certain season in the province of Lusitania (ancient Portugal) Zephyr fertilized a group of mares along the coast near Lisbon. The foals of these mares inherited all the qualities of the West Wind: speed, beauty, strength and nobility. At Haras Dos Cavaleiros, we continue to breed, honor and enjoy these “Sons of the Wind”, the pure bred Lusitano horse.
