Last night the evening’s tips were dedicated to helping local teacher, artist, and musician Kohl Arnett and his family during a difficult medical recovery. Then M.I. Family stepped up and matched those donations so the Salvation Army would still receive its normal support.
Lindsey delivered a powerful performance and closed her set with Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.” That wasn’t an accident. When my dad taught me to play drums as a kid, he started me with Patsy Cline because he wanted me to know what great music sounds like and how to keep a simple beat.
So when Lindsey finished “Crazy,” I tipped my hat to Dad one more time sorta say, “Hey Dad, watch what I do with this now”, before flipping the script and launching into a Memphis, Atlanta, and New Orleans-inspired set.
My dad was from Memphis. Mom from Atlanta. Angela and I will be planting roots in New Orleans. Culture.
A club manager on Bourbon Street asked me if I could play urban music. Fair question. This set is now live at Flamingotism.com
Take a listen and tell me what answer I should give. 😎
