It might not be officially small business Saturday however, I want to recognize 2 other small business owners who helped me out of separate significant issues this week. Karen the cake lady of deforest offered helpful advice on a dessert from equipment recommendation to strategies for the best outcome.
Then today when another purveyor was unable to secure a specialty product for a wedding R.E. Golden Produce came in clutch.
I'm so grateful to both for being "Johnny on the spot" and unknowingly helping this couple's dream wedding come to fruition at the 23rd hour!

The finish line is near! Thinking of all fellow industry people who have endured another UW graduation/mothers day weekend! Stubborn Mule Catering is very excited to be a part of an event who's mission resonates with us. Our chef experienced temporary limb loss due to an accident requiring surgery and members of this community offered support and resources to adapt. We are honored to be part of this years event. Please come out to learn more about limb difference and be inspired by peoples stories. We will be serving some of our customers favorites. Here is your chance to come support and celebrate people with limb difference, hear inspiring stories and try our food. The event is April 18th at Central Heights Middle School Sun Prairie from 10-4.

At the wedding expo today in the Alliant Energy Center in conjunction with the Wisconsin Masonic Center. We are sampling Lamb meatballs with Moroccan BBQ sauce and a Vegan and Gluten Free Southwest chili. We are showcasing our ability to offer many cultures and styles of food. Stop on out!

Another update on Chef Ryan. As many of you know he broke his arm in 3 places that required major surgery. He has been working hard in physical therapy to regain range of motion as well as his strength.
An actual quote from his Physical Therapist is as follows... The patient is having trouble with demonstrating patience in the lengthy rehab part of this process. While continuing to make and even exceed traditional time tables he still is frustrated by lack of "being better already" (healing can take up to a full year)
He has joined us in the kitchen for every event including a 3 day event 2 weeks after surgery. We have all been on him to rest! He conceded by putting his side project Stubborn Mule Meals on pause until the 1st of the year. He looks forward to returning to weekly cooking and delivering and catching up with his regulars. An update for those of you who have been wondering. Many of you know Chef Ryan fell and broke his arm in 3 places on his way to an event. Engine 3 of MFD and EMT crew were quick to get him to UW hospital. He had surgery a week later and now has a titanium arm with a plate and 20 screws and yes he's made plenty of dad jokes about plates as you can imagine. He's now 3 weeks out from surgery but is still slow going as we all have to remind him to rest. He learned about delegation this past weekend as we had 3 events. Staff was making sure he took breaks, his meds and didn't over do but there's a reason were Stubborn Mule after all! He wants to thank everyone again who helped behind the scenes, in front of house, people who donated to the go fund me his best friend of 30+ years organized as a surprise to him, to the check ins, food drop offs or suprise pizza delivery. We appreciate the love and support you have shown our small business in this time. We are all excited by the progress he's made in just 3 weeks and he said he can't wait to start PT and OT so we can't scold him as much!
