"Can we hold a viewing before cremation?" Absolutely.
You can have a viewing with cremation, and families choose this option all the time. You can also have a full funeral service before cremation if that feels right for your family.
A viewing lets family and friends gather, see your loved one one last time, and share support together. You can hold a viewing alone or as part of a full service. We prepare your loved one with the same care we use for burial. Afterward, we complete the cremation. This gives you both the time together you need and the flexibility cremation offers.

Thanksgiving feels harder when someone who used to be at your table isn’t there anymore. The meal gets cooked and people gather, but the day carries that awareness of an empty seat. Some families talk openly about the person they’re missing, while others keep those memories closer to the heart. Both can happen around the same table.

If this is your first Thanksgiving without someone you love, give yourself permission to make the day what you need it to be. Prepare their favorite dishes, or skip them. Share stories, or take a break from talking. Hold on to traditions, or try something new. Whatever helps you get through today is enough.

We’ve been thinking about the families we’ve served this year, and you’re on our hearts. We’re here if you need us and hope today has moments of warmth, gratitude, and love.

Through our partnership with the HeartLight Center for Grief, we continue to offer community grief circle support open to anyone in our community. Lauren Jensen, Clinical Social Worker, will hold the following regular monthly circle:

Loss of a Spouse/Partner Group

An ongoing support group for people who have experienced the death of a spouse, partner, or significant other. If your loss is recent or years ago, you are welcome to spend an evening with others who are on a similar journey.
Meets the Fourth Wednesday monthly
5:00 - 6:30 PM at Cress Center 6021 University Ave, Madison, WI 53705
