One of the antiques you’ll find at Madison Antiques & Fine Things (March 19-21, 2026) is this Wilkes County Chest of Drawers (1790-1800): Walnut; southern yellow pine; maple inlaid. Ht. 43¾"; wd. 384"; d. 23%". Top cross-banded and edged with maple banding. Maple beading around drawers; inlaid diamond escutcheons; stringing outlines rectangles with hollow-round corners; triple stringing along edge of skirt. High (7") French feet with rounded curve a bottom. Back legs are dovetailed in back.

This incredible piece was exhibited September 3 through October 31, 1976 at the High Museum of Art during the bicentennial. The exhibit was “Furniture of the Georgia Piedmont Before 1830,” and was curated by Henry D. Green. Come see the original exhibit catalog and perhaps add this chest of drawers to your own antique collection!

It will be on display during the antique show and sale with ronevansantiques.
