On Sunday march 23, Alija and I will be taking folks around the beautiful property of Finegold Ranch and Trust on a natural history walk. This is a fundraising event for the continued preservation of Finegold Ranch. Get to know the local flora, fauna and fungi and enjoy a day out in the beautiful oak woodlands. Picnic and wild mushroom tasting by the creek to follow. Donations are sliding scale, no one will be turned away!

Bring a picnic and your hiking boots. Friendly for all ages as we’ll be moving at the speed of natural history 🐢 dm me if you have any questions or need to coordinate a ride. High clearance vehicles are recommended. Hope to see you there!

I’ve made a decision that I’m honestly really excited about but also feels a little sad. The era of the Flower CSA is ending and new things are on the horizon.

Like a lot of amazing things, it’s CSA was born out of the pandemic. A time that forced small businesses and artists to change and adapt. It feels that call to change has returned again. Although I loved doing them, the widespread deliveries and extra time and coordination bound me up. Just like in the garden, if we let the weeds get out of hand, they choke the flowers. This is not sustainable and I need to open up some space so that new things can bloom.

My commitment to land stewardship and drive to bring beauty to the community is stronger than ever. We will continue to provide flowers to the community at The Vibeyard Farmer’s Market where my family has been selling cut flowers and live plants for almost 30 years! Aaannnndd….I’m working on building a farm stand where you can pick up flowers on a more flexible schedule. U picks will still be here too!

Thank you all for being here over these years and sticking by us through the many skins we’ve shed. Even though it feels a little scary, I have no doubt that this decision will bring so many more beautiful things to the land and this community 🧡

Announcement: Our first market of the year will be Saturday, February 1st! We’re picking things back up earlier than usual this year due do having a lot of product. Mostly in the form of Stocks. Shall we call it our stock market?…. with this being our IPO of the year? Frankly these flowers are the only kind of stocks I care about. How about you??

Stocks are an annual flower in the brassicaceae family. Yes they are related to broccoli, cauliflower and mustard! They have a wonderful fragrance reminiscent of sweet clove, edible flowers, and a pretty exceptional vase life of up to 2 weeks.

I’ve missed y’all and am looking forward to seeing all my people very soon! 🥰

The most precious thing I’ve seen in a while - A tiny eastern Newt living under a mushroom of the same color.

We got to travel to Vermont last weekend to visit some friends. I saw a hardwood deciduous forest for the first time and it was so beautiful even though the leaves had already fallen.

It’s almost time for me to take my winter hiatus y’all! We have two more farmer’s markets , a handful of workshops, and one private group. A custom botanical backdrop for and a surprise launch of an art project I’ve been working on for a while.

It’s that time again friends…Holiday Wreath Workshop tickets are live!

We are stoked to be returning to our OG host in downtown Fresno. I hosted the first ever Wreath Workshop there 7 years ago and are so happy to be returning.

Over the past few years, the gopher problem has been getting worse. Part of being a no-till farm means that root eating creatures make their homes in our fields. Our interplanting with semi permanent trees and shrubs is providing additional undisturbed shelter for them as the trees establish. Last winter they destroyed all but 2 of my poppy plants and took out a lot of sunnies this fall. Hoping to have a little less loss this coming year. Shout out to Alija for being the gopher guy .mujic ! He also took this photo which I find incredibly beautiful.

Friday night was such a dream. To everyone who came to our Farm to Table- Field to Vase dinner, Thank you!!! Y’all made the farm feel so alive! Something feels incredibly right about community farm gatherings, to share food and flowers on the land that grew them. We are so grateful for all the local farmers who’s hands grew the food and to for your passion and talent in putting it all together in such a delicious way.
Community is everything. 🌻🌻🌻

Had to do something today that was strictly for my joy. Alija and I made our first finished batch of compost. All of our kitchen scraps from the past 2 years turned into beautiful soil. What a gratifying feeling. We sifted it and added coco choir and vermiculite for fluff and drainage.

Used this as cover soil this morning for direct seeding native plants in the bed at the entry to our home. Some were purchased and others we’ve collected on backpacking trips and adventures around CA. Taking death and decay and turning it into life all in one morning.

The spot gets a lot of rain run off from the eaves of the house so we went with more water loving riparian plants. Evening primrose, nettles, mugwort, ca lettuce, baby blue eyes, astragalus, bee plant, goldenrod, and a more.

I can’t wait to walk into our home and be greeted by such a living reminder of all the places we’ve been, the wild places we hold dear, and all the amazing meals we’ve shard and gardens grown over the years all in one patch of earth. Native Plants Rule!

It’s that magical day of the year when the light and darkness are in perfect balance.
Tonight we are roasting acorn squash over the fire pit outside. We stuffed them with venison, elderberries from , morels from spring and wild blueberries from our local mountains. Side of nettle barley! It feels good to eat this way.

I hope this season brings you balance in all ways! Happy Equinox 🌗

Fall 2022 Equinox is tomorrow.
I don’t know about y’all but summer felt incredibly relentless this year and I’m feeling relieved and inspired with this cooler weather. (Insert huge sigh of relief)

To celebrate the change in seasons, I’ll be having a wreath sale tomorrow starting at 4pm. Local folks only- I can’t ship these delicate beauties. Free pick up from my farm (10 mins north of Fresno) or Saturday morning.

Add $7 for local delivery Monday (9/26)

Payment is through Venmo.

Sometimes you go mushroom hunting and find zero mushrooms but stumble across a magically expansive wild blueberry patch. There were definitely fairies present and I somehow feel like it was all a dream.

Dirty hands, clean money. Been really feeling this lately. I don’t make a whole lot, but I feel good about what I do. I feel wealthy in a lot of ways that are more important than cash. I feel wealthy in friendships and love, in community and meaningful work. Thanks for being here :)
