This past week, we had the pleasure of hosting the New York State Association of Real Property Tax Directors and welcoming the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services for an informative session on how local and state officials can better support veterans and military families through the new real property tax exemption.

How can local and state officials better help Veterans and Military Families with the new real property tax exemption? New York State Department of Veterans' Services Deputy Counsel Benjamin Pomerance brought this important conversation — and his expert knowledge — directly to Real Property Directors at a recent training in Lyons Falls!
Participants came from across New York, including the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley and North Country. Over more than three hours, they explored the Real Property Tax Law provisions in depth and raised thoughtful questions about how the exemption works.
Several attendees thanked Benjamin for taking the time to answer their questions directly and candidly. That kind of conversation helps build understanding and strengthens the support available to Veterans and Military Families across the state.
