FUNDRAISER FOR DEBORAH! PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND SHARE WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN! SHE NEED OUR HELP!
I first met Deborah when I was about 10 years old cleaning windows with my dad. I was trying to figure out how to come up with enough money to go on the 4H trip to Jekyll island. She offered to pay for it if dad would allow me to go. I will never forget that generosity and now I have the opportunity to repay it. I am selling raffle tickets for a dollar each. All proceeds will go directly to Deborah. The following is why she needs all of us to find it in our hearts to just buy 1 ticket.
The first of March Deborah was a healthy 57 yr old woman. She went for a hike and jumped from boulder to boulder like a kid. Her 30 yr old cousin said she was like a teenager and could not believe how she moved after breaking both knees, ankle and back over the last 10 years. Then one morning she was waiting on a customer and fell on to a chair that bounced and tumbled and sustained extensive injuries. Deborah broke her knee all the way thru damaging the cartilage and popping the tendons. She has permanent sutures 6 inches above and below her knee holding it together. She broke her right arm above the elbow. When the top of the humorous hit the floor with such force that it spiral fractured to the shoulder joint like 10 slinkies. Deborah’s surgeon said it is the worse break he has seen. They took a plate from the elbow to top of shoulder and 13 screws to hold it together. She also had a torn rotator cuff and soon after surgery her shoulder became frozen. She is thill in therapy for this. She was in the hospital for 10 days and lost 11 lbs. Day three of being in the hospital she went in to DKA and her heart wall collapsed. Deborah almost died 3 times. Her heart infraction rate went from an extremely healthy 65% to 30 %. Deborah was told that 5 more% would put her on the heart transplant list. She had to have a heart catheter.. She was in the ICU for three days during that hospital stay and was told she might not live. They could not draw blood thru an IV and had to put a Pick Line in her heart to draw blood for test. All her nurses thought she had been in a terrible car accident. Deborah was sent home with two shoulders that could not move, right arm pinned to her belly in a brace, a leg in splint from ankle to hip and not one bit of help. She was sent home due to Covid and the hospitals trying to clear out the beds.
Deborah husband a Vietnam veteran had problems of his own. He had dementia, along with heart, kidney, and blood cancer. He hit her in the hospital, again at home. He would bring in groceries and throw them on the counter saying horrible things to her, shoving her into the counter blaming her for being a useless bitch. Telling her that he was going to kill her and her employer. Deborah ate vegetables raw to survive she could not chop or cook, could not open a can of soup. Any one week of that time was so horrible anyone would of left, divorced, called the police but she could not, circle of hope would not take her because she had to quarantine alone as Deborah was 4 times susceptible to death from covid19. It was the most unbearable time and then it got worse. 5 months ago her husband fell ill. Deborah cared for him when she needed caring for herself. She pulled herself up the stairs she was barely able to climb 16 times a day. Pulling him up cleaning him, dressing him with shoulders she could barely dress herself with. Never any home care or help from anyone. The conflict of his dementia and manic depression and caring for a him has made it difficult to reconcile. Deborah has sought help with that. Her husband passed away last week.
Deborah was totally dependent on him. Now she has a mortgage, utilities, copays to Drs., gas, insurance for car, legal fees. The house is only hers if she can manage to pay the mortgage. Her heart has regained some of its function. She is continuing therapy for both shoulders and trying to get her body in shape for a very risky adrenal gland surgery to remove a tumor that is the eating her life.
Deborah now needs the adrenal surgery. Once she gets the ok for that it is an estimated 2 months till surgery and at least 2 months to recover. Then surgery on one shoulder at a time. The left shoulder will take a year to recover and the right shoulder is undetermined due to the extent of damage. Her bones are also affected by the tumor and adrenal gland. Deborah has extremely bad osteoporosis. She must start a medicine to rebuild her bones for 2 years. The cost of this medicine is $25 a month if she can keep her insurance. This adrenal gland has gone nuts from all the trauma of the fall. It has depleted her bones, makes her heart race dangerously, random insulin causing lows and heightened anxiety attacks from extremely high hormone levels which could alone cause death.
So I am asking that if you read this whole post to please find one dollar that you can spare and donate it to help Deborah. For every dollar that you donate on venmo I will give you your numbers for your raffle tickets. Every Friday I will pick at least one winner. Your ticket will stay in every week unless it is picked as a winner.
