When Sweet C had to shut down one of the things I worried about was Wade having to move after I had just had him join us over here. Lucky for him, the specific restrictions the city was putting on Sweet C didn’t apply to him staying open and he’s been able to keep his business going right next to the barn. Super cool to see a Lufkin business Wade's Barbecue featured in Monthly! Must say his bbq is like nothing I have had before and a family fav of ours. Remember when you support local you are supporting someone’s dream, just like this feature speaks of. Keep getting out and doing so and check this story! Oh and that “picturesque” yard they speak of...that’s all thanks to Ninjas , another local business, owned by Trent Nichols, he always keeps it looking so beautiful over there for me!

Nineteen years ago at this very time, MarTeres was a dream about to come true. For nearly nineteen years , it has been our pleasure and joy to serve everyone that comes through our doors. Whether chicken salad, quiche, chicken spaghetti, a delicious glass of almond tea or yummy desserts, we have loved serving you. We have made lasting friendships
The last few months have been trying for any business, especially small businesses. We have made the difficult decision that our time has come to an end. This has not been an easy decision. We love our customers and faithful employees. We will miss our daily routine and serving everyone we have come to know and love.
As of now, our last day to be open will be Friday June 18. As we plan our weekly menus for the final weeks, we would love to know your favorite soups and specials!

This my friends is another thing that makes me sad. This makes me think that the town that I love so much is once again working against small businesses. Shouldn’t we be supporting what we call the heart beat of our community? Shouldn’t we be the helpers and not the hinders of small business dreams becoming reality? Please keep this sort of thing in mind when voting this election. My heart breaks for what is happening for small businesses.
