It has been a while! I loved doing the wedding flowers for my perfect .p.johnson . I have “retired” from floral work and have gone back to another one of my passions - education in the public school system in a Title I school. I’m working as an instructional specialist and starting school on Monday for my doctorate in educational leadership! Thank you for so much support over the years!

*I am taking brides on a very very limited basis (close friends and family) that I can serve outside of the school year!

2020 was a big year for me (Michelle), personally. Moving to Waco put my little flower business on the back burner and I found my way back to teaching. I am starting a doctoral program in the summer and am excited to see where that leads me.

I jumped into this little business with both feel after we lost our little girl, Noel. Flowers brought me so much joy, purpose, and the needed distraction. I know God opened doors that lead to a way to stay home with my kids, earn money, create, and make new friends.

Poppies and Peonies Design is far from closing its doors, but is waiting in the side wings as my little family transitions to a new home in 2021 and I pursue my other passion - education. Cheers to 2021!

PERSONAL POST! We need your help! We are putting together an online auction to continue to raise money for our adoption! If you have a skill, product, gift card, or service you’d be willing to donate, please contact me! Ideally, virtual services or items that can be shipped. If it is specific to your area (Lubbock or DFW... heck - even Utah Valley), that’d be great, too!

We have decided to work with an agency that specializes in placing children with disabilities into adoptive families. Their fees are lower than most agencies, but we are still $9,000 from our goal! Every night I am up until 1-2 applying for adoption grants, am earning extra money as a freelance writer, and we are pinching our pennies. We have faith that we can make this happen! Thank you to everyone for your support!

I grew up idealizing marriage. I watched a lot of romantic comedies and still watch a significant amount of Hallmark Christmas movies. To me, marriage was the end all be all goal of life. Once I got married, it would be smooth sailing. I know. I know. Sweet and naive.

Marriage is hard. It is a partnership where we both, consistently reevaluate our selfish desires and choose to put the other first. I love working in an industry where I am constantly reminded of the start of this crazy adventure. I get to see couples at the start of their love stories. It helps me to remember that I’m right in the middle of my own love story - even though it is full of kids, bills, and jobs. I’m so grateful for a husband and partner in life that reminds me everyday of how much he loves me.

I’ll be honest - I’m not much of a romantic. I love my husband and am so grateful for him. I’m not big on anniversaries, surprises, or jewelry. I do, however, love when he takes out the trash, plays with the kids so I can get a moment alone, and let’s me choose where we go to eat on date nights.
