Story time: We were adding small moss mounds under this couple’s luminaria candles. I had a handful of campanula blooms that I had just cut off a super-long stem. I stuck them in the moss mound near the front and it was SO CUTE! But we were also nearing the end of the load-in time and I was getting ready to send my team home.

A relative of the couple came in and remarked about how adorable the flowery mound was and… we just had to do it to all of them! It wasn’t in the original plan, but the vision was lord of the rings/hobbit/fairy circle magic so we felt it would add something special!

It’s not always that we can to the brief on wedding day, but sometimes it’s just too cute. Sometimes we freestyle and add tiny fairy flowers to the moss mounds under your luminarias. And we hope that fairy magic is just what your wedding day needs 🧚🪄✨💫

Meet Leonard: the least helpful member of the Sonnet team.

Strengths:
😵 He likes to hop up into the flowers and try to find whatever is the most toxic to frighten me with.
😴 He takes very long naps once he is banished from the flower area.
🧑‍🍳 He makes the best biscuits.

Weaknesses:
⚠️He does attack his coworkers with no warning.
🚫 He has no thumbs and is incapable of helping with florist work.

PSA: many flowers and greenery typically used in weddings are topic to cats and dogs. Some are deadly! Make sure to keep pets away from flowers/greenery. Leonard was allowed a supervised visitation to the flowers for this video and did not taste anything.

There will always be pressure to spend *more*

This was true ten years ago and is true now, whether it is seeing Pinterest posts with over the top decorations, pressure at vendor meetings to go for the luxury option, or peer pressure to keep up with weddings in your friend group, there’s pressure coming from everywhere to push your budget to the max or past it.

How do you avoid falling into this trap?

1. Decide your priorities at the beginning of your planning process. What do you care about? Decide now and revisit this list often. A wedding mission statement is the extra credit work on this step.

2. Don’t fall prey to pressurized sales situations. You can almost ALWAYS walk away and take time to think about an offer. Ask for a couple hours or a couple days and sit with your feelings!

3. Communicate your budget (overall budget to important vendors, and line item to smaller vendors) so they can help you maximize what you can get for that price point!
