“Is that what it really looked like?!”
Thought I’d give an example of what the camera sees vs the naked eye. At 100% totality it would look closer to the first image eye-only, but as with all eclipses, 96% coverage just isn’t the same as total. The sun’s light is just so bright that without full coverage it still looks like a thin crescent moon, with the red in the shadow slightly visible after letting your eyes adjust. 🌕🌓🌑
