You know the basic. You can get through a song. And somewhere around the second chorus you run out of material and quietly recycle the same turn for the third time.

That is what these two Sundays are for.

This is Hustle past the entry point: the patterns that keep going when the basic runs out, the hand changes, and the timing that makes a fast song feel unhurried instead of frantic. It is a progressive course, so week two picks up where week one stops. Come to both.

This one assumes you already dance. Intermediate and advanced only, and if Hustle is brand new to you, the beginner course in late November is where to start.

Sundays, September 27 and October 4, 5:30 PM at Bravo Dance Studio in Louisville. Bring a partner or come without one, we rotate.

You've been hearing Bachata all summer whether you knew the name or not. It's on the radio, it's on the playlist at the restaurant, and it's the song at every party where suddenly half the room stands up and the other half watches.

Being in the watching half is a choice, and it's a fixable one.

The dance is far simpler than the music makes it sound. Three steps and a tap. That's the basic. The hip motion everyone worries about isn't something you force, it shows up on its own once your feet stop concentrating so hard.

Fifty minutes is genuinely enough to leave able to do it at a party.

One class, Wednesday September 23 at 7:00 PM at Bravo Dance Studio in Louisville. Beginners welcome, no experience assumed. No partner needed, since we rotate the room.

Ask around and half the people you know will tell you they've always wanted to learn Salsa. Ask when they're starting and you'll get a shrug and a someday.

Someday is the problem. Salsa isn't.

The basic step is smaller than it looks from the outside. A shift of weight, a count of eight with a pause built into it, and a rhythm that's honestly hard to lose once you find it. What looks like speed on a social floor is really just confidence stacked on top of something simple.

Two Tuesdays is enough to get that first layer, and the first layer is the one that makes everything else possible.

September 29 and October 6, 7:00 PM at Bravo Dance Studio in Louisville. Beginners only, no experience assumed. No partner required, because we rotate the room during class, so coming solo is completely normal.

$24 for both classes. Someday now has a date on it.

And then there's this one, which is the only line in Louisville people show up early for.

Every Monday at 8:00, Bravo Dance Studio turns into a room full of rows, color lights, and music you'd actually choose: country, club, modern hits, ballroom, Latin. You line up, you follow along, and nobody watches your feet because they're all busy with their own. A few songs in, it clicks. It always does.

FORTY-FIVE MINUTES, ALL YOURS

Private lessons, 7 days a week

Here's what happens in a private lesson that never happens anywhere else: nobody else is in the room.

No waiting for your turn. No rotation. No pretending you got the step when you didn't. For forty-five minutes, the teacher's entire attention is on one thing, which is you, and the lesson goes exactly as fast or as slow as you need it to.

That's why people learn faster this way. Not because private lessons are magic, but because every minute is spent on your feet, your questions, your goal. Maybe that goal is Salsa. Maybe it's Waltz for a wedding. Maybe it's "be able to dance at a party without panicking." All of those are normal, and all of those work.

At Bravo Dance Studio in Louisville we teach more than 27 dances, to singles and couples, seven days a week by appointment. You don't need a partner and you don't need to know anything yet.

$90 for 45 minutes. New students get the second lesson free.
