BIO:
E. Oks (Evan Okun) is employed by Circles & Ciphers, a Chicago-based restorative justice group led by young people who are court-, gang-, and DCFS- involved. He recently published an album - "Well Lit LP" - a metaphysical look at American culture through the seven chakras https://soundcloud.com/eoks/sets/well-lit-lp . E. Oks is in the middle of a six part series with the Bowery Poetry Club, NYC. He graduated from Wesleyan University (CT), where he majored in Sociology, received a Certificate in Education, and completed the PreMed track. In his last three years at Wesleyan, Evan volunteered in the music therapy department of the Connecticut Juvenile Training School, a nearby juvenile detention center, where he designed and implemented a class that examined literary technique and societal inequality through modern day hip hop songs. In the summer after he graduated, he served as a full-time employee of this facility, continuing his work with the music therapy department. Evan has published three hip hop albums, competed in the national collegiate spoken word poetry tournament, and runs a variety of writing workshops for youth ages ten to twenty. His primary interest of the last year has been freestyle rap.

We're so excited and so lucky to have returning to play their 3rd backyard show!

Backyard jams and art shows have
provided a unique way for an enlightened sister/brother duo to thrive.

Jefferson, the last name shared by the sibling mc's is also the name of their hip hop jazz inspired band. Leimert park natives, Slim Jeff and Lizzy Jeff have gained much momentum over the past few months rocking out in backyards and art galleries all across LA.

Each show is unique and offers a distinct and impressive element to their overall sound. Some days you may find the two performing with a four piece band and other times it may be only them and a violinist. Whatever configuration you have the opportunity to experience, Jefferson is always raw and always real. They spit the rhymes that make you think internally. Funk inspired baselines and introspective raps allow you to dive deeper into the abyss of who you really are.

The buzz Jefferson has created is truly organic and a live show is sure to raise your vibrations instantaneously . With influences like Gil Scott Heron and Digable Planets, these two bring the true definition of "cool" to light.

Bio:
Ahmed is a composer from San Bernardino, CA. From the young age of 6, Ahmed has played the piano and various other instruments. He began his formal composition studies at Cal-State San Bernardino, and finished earning his BA in Music from Hunter College, NY. Now living in Los Angeles, Ahmed works with various singer-songwriters in the area while being in his own band, "The Humble Boys". Though Ahmed works with singers and songwriters- his absolute passion is composing, primarily for film and theatre. He sits as the Musical Director and Assistant Artistic Director for the "New Alchemist" theatre company, based out of Seattle, WA. Ahmed enjoys composing for all types of musical settings, from large orchestral groups to small chamber ensembles and soloists. Ahmed believes in the transformative power of music, that no matter the situation, music can heal and change our world around us.
