There are people that are upset that I highlight the fact that I would be the first woman and first person of color in this seat that I am running for. The smart thing would be to celebrate the fact that we are advancing, moving forward, and doing better than we ever have. I was the Co-Chair of the Redondo Beach MLK Celebration 4 years ago. It was long overdue and thanks to the vision of Captain Naylor and our Chief of Police Kauffman, it was made possible. Nobody accomplished greatness alone. NOBODY! This is something to celebrate. It was amazing. I will never understand people that always want to complain or try to dim the light of others. Life is too short to be mad, angry, spiteful, and stagnant. Find something that lights your fire and blaze a trail.
Thanks to Shelby Stephens and the Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper staff for taking the time to tell a part of my story. Stay tuned...
