We have planned and attended events at the JW Marriott Desert Springs over the years but we weren’t aware of the back story. Check out this excellent article from SFGATE about one of the most interesting properties in the Coachella Valley.

In 1987, Marriott turned a field of sand dunes near Palm Springs into a resort with a 239,000,000-gallon mega lake.
