“…colorful, exuberant and an energetic exploration of life.”
- Andrew Whiteside Homedance Reviews, Auckland, NZ

LA’s own Lula Washington Dance Theatre, known for its inspiring and thought-provoking repertoire, celebrates their 45th anniversary with two North American premieres at The Ford. The Master Plan, choreographed by Washington, is a tribute to the late saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders, with live musical accompaniment guided by Marcus L. Miller, (musical artist and drummer, LWDT Music Director) and special guests including Dwight Trible. This dance wants viewers to see the power of dance and music as a connection to a higher consciousness that promotes peace, love, respect and happiness. Tamica Washington-Miller’s And We Can Fly is inspired by the African American folk tale “The People Could Fly.” It acknowledges and explores African American spirituality, the Ring Shout, and other African American healing technologies that have been forgotten, with original music composed by Marcus L. Miller. LWDT pays homage to modern dance pioneers, in this soul-stirring performance with classic American works including Donald McKayle’s Songs of the Disinherited (a Lula Washington Dance Theatre revival), two iconic Martha Graham solos, Deep Song and Satyric Festival Song, and Talley Beatty’s Mourner’s Bench. Each Relevant in these times.

Jennifer Dunning of The New York Times says, “Ms. Washington is an original, in part because of the concern for social issues that informs some of her dances and the gentle but persistent way she addresses those issues.” Since 1980, Lula Washington Dance Theatre has electrified audiences throughout the United States and abroad with her authentic and inspiring choreographic works!

Programs, artists, dates, prices, and availability subject to change. Ticket limits may apply. All sales are final.

Travel now will be slow. The lady at the ticket counter was nice and slow and my bag almost made her fall.

I thought she surely shouldbe at home resting and collecting her Social Security for all of her previous years of hard work.

But wait I forgot this is Trump land, so she may have to work until she drops, just to pay her bills.

I was sad to see her struggling with my bag. She also had to push the wheel chair because there was no one at that hour to help her.

Lastly was also the person at the counter checki -in to board the plane.

But this is what Trump folks voted for, Make grand mother work until she drops.

Take away her health care increase her medical bills and medicine cost.

Keep food cost high all to give tax cuts to his rich friends. So sad!

Think about it!
