We originally wanted to elope in Iceland. We were drawn to the dramatic landscape, partly because of the black sand beach. But life has a funny way of changing your plans so we found a way to recreate the Iceland look much closer to home. You get the drama of the dark, foggy beach without the growing tourism, hefty airfare+lodging, or cold temperatures. We planned this elopement without ever having visited, and we fell in love with so many locations we saw on the way. A summer wedding in Chicago means you run the risk of sudden rain on your wedding day. Right after the ceremony, we saw that there was an impending storm, so we rushed into the 1959 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud we had for the day, hoping to get couples portraits done before the storm rolled in. It was hot and humid, the car didn’t have AC, it hardly fit Jessica’s dress, and our heads touched the ceiling. It was a wild, love-drunk, frantic mess, but in such a good way. Here’s their first intimate kiss away from crowds after being pronounced as husband + wife. ❦
