Sirens Podcast 054: Man Power

Man Power is a DJ and producer frustratingly hard to pin down. He’s released on big labels like DFA, Rekids, and Hypercolour, played prestigious parties like Panorama Bar, Glastonbury, and Printworks, and featured on the Essential Mix, the RA Podcast, and his Rinse FM residency. But he’s just as committed to underground, grassroots club culture, working with lesser known imprints, supporting unknown parties, and mentoring newcomers behind the scenes.

Techno and house feel closest to a throughline, but ambient records and orchestral work resist that, and this refusal to be pinned down has kept him touring for fifteen years, defined by contrast, serious one moment, absurd the next, now focused on people who value sincerity over fame.

Musically it would be tempting to call techno and house his defining thread, but his ambient and experimental albums, his orchestral composition, and a DJ style pulling from six decades of danceable music complicate that.

His refusal to be pinned down has kept his touring career going for over fifteen years. What defines him is the contrast, serious and precise one moment, absurd and made up on the spot the next. He’s narrowed his focus to people who share his commitment to authentic self-expression and community over fame or commercial success. For those who value sincerity and uniqueness, he may still become a favorite.

Oct 10 Sirens x DX3: Man Power @ Los Angeles, CA

Man Power (Me Me Me / Correspondant, UK)
SONNS b2b Tavish DJ
Capes
D’ETE

Sirens x DX3 return for another collaboration, bringing Man Power for a night that answers to no one but him.

Man Power is a producer and DJ from the North East of England, more than a decade deep into a career built on the trust of a scene that doesn’t hand that out easily. Labels like DFA, Rekids, and Hivern Discs put his records out because they know he doesn’t play safe, and neither does his DJing, and his recent run of collaborations with Juan Maclean under the name Juan Power only sharpens that reputation further. Every set he plays is assembled in the moment, pulled from a mind that jumps between disco, Italo, house, and techno without warning, which means what happens on the night only happens once. There’s no replaying it, no catching the same set twice. That’s the reason people who’ve followed him for years still show up early and stay to the end, and why a room that trusts him goes all in the second he steps behind the decks.

Man Power is joined by a lineup built to match him: SONNS b2b Tavish DJ, Capes, and D’ETE.

Tickets on RA. Link in bio.
