Meet our Navajo Fry Breads, an homage to the ancestral traditions Chef Louie carries forward.

🤎 Navajo Bison Fry Bread — ancestral flatbread, golden and pillowy, layered with tender ground bison and smoked salt.

🤎Navajo Calabasitas Fry Bread — that same golden flatbread, filled with summer squash, roasted corn, and herbs. Grounding, bright, and made with care.

Zimbabwe has one of the most vibrant food cultures in the world, and this Sunday, Chef Kuda Grace is bringing it to Hollywood Blvd. 🇿🇼

Chef Kuda has been cooking since she was nine years old, learning traditional recipes from her mother and aunts in Zimbabwe. Now in Los Angeles as Chef Fellow at Flavors from Afar, she’s bringing that same heritage to the table.

Join us for the Zimbabwe Brunch Experience on Sunday, April 26 from 12–4 PM at Flavors from Afar. Expect a full afternoon of Zimbabwean flavors: sadza, magwinya, malva pudding with baobab ice cream, and the kind of warmth that makes you feel right at home.

Seats are limited — grab yours through the link in bio.

The Indian-Spiced Lamb Tartine is the kind of dish that makes you think about how far food travels.

An open-faced sandwich layered with toasted cumin yogurt, onion chutney, and housemade quick pickles — each element rooted in a culinary tradition that has moved, adapted, and evolved across continents and kitchens.

Come find it at the table 🧡

Some dishes carry a whole world in a single bite. Our Kenyan Coconut Tilapia is one of them — tilapia simmered in a fragrant coconut-tomato broth with garlic, ginger, and warm African spices, served on a bed of cilantro rice. Light, creamy, and deeply comforting. Come find it at the table. ❤️

Our kitchen is now open Monday through Thursday until 8pm, with global wine and NA beverages until 9pm.

Bison has sustained Indigenous communities across this land for thousands of years, being a source of nourishment, ceremony, and deep cultural reverence.

Chef Louie Chavez honors that legacy with every plate. Our Navajo Bison Seared Steak is served with creamy white beans and wild rice.

We are honored to have it at our table, and we would love to share it with you. ❤️

On Sunday, March 29, Sounds from Afar returns with a morning inspired by Morocco, gathering around a table shaped by tradition, hospitality and shared music.

We welcome Chef Majda, founder of .maghreb, who arrived in California from Morocco carrying the flavors and customs of her homeland. Through her cooking she shares the warmth that defines Moroccan gatherings, inviting guests to experience dishes rooted in memory and community. For this edition she presents a menu inspired by Maghrebi breakfast traditions with mint tea service, warm khobz with cultured butter and thyme, amlou with almonds and argan oil, baghrir with honey, shakshouka with smoked bell pepper, bright seasonal citrus and semolina cake to finish.

Music for the morning will be curated by .wav, contributor to In Sheep’s Clothing and host of Wabi Sabi on NTS Radio. Drawing from a vast vinyl collection and a lifelong connection to global sound, her sets move through overlooked recordings and traditions from across continents, tracing the subtle ways rhythms and melodies travel between cultures.

Join us for this special edition, a table shaped by flavor, sound and the many paths that bring people together.

Sunday, February 22 marks the first Sounds from Afar of the year. This edition is inspired by Mardi Gras and its many expressions across the South from New Orleans and Mobile to Cajun Country, St. Louis, Galveston and the many cities where these traditions travel, evolve and transform.

Our kitchen will be fully in house with a menu curated by Head Chef Louie Chavez of Flavors from Afar.

We are honored to welcome our special guests .nicole.price , .wav and .

Taylor Nicole Price is a Bay Area born journalist and documentary storyteller whose work explores Black American life through a global lens tracing connections between migration, identity and cultural preservation. Tana Yonas is a cultural curator and storyteller whose work centers music, memory and community through conversation and collective listening.

Alexis Hunley is a Los Angeles based artist whose practice explores intimacy, ancestral memory and reclamation within Black American life. Working across documentary, archival and experimental processes her work reflects on how history lives in the body and how photography can become a space for reflection, preservation and collective healing. Alexis will present a selection of generations photographs of her family followed by a conversation with Taylor. You can view her powerful archival project at

Join us for an afternoon of food, ideas and gathering as we open a new year of Sounds from Afar.
