Make plans now to celebrate Women's Equality Day at Turning Point Suffragist Memorial on August 26. Help commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote.

Virginia Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi will provide a keynote address and Historian and Author Shirley M. Marshall will share Suffragist stories. Enjoy tours of the memorial guided by docents in period attire, artifact displays and light refreshments at The River View at Occoquan.

The event will take place on Wednesday, August 26, from 10am to noon at Occoquan Regional Park, 9751 Ox Rd. Lorton, VA. To attend, RSVP at novaparks.com/WomensEqualityDay

NOVA Parks hosted Governor Abigail Spanberger this week for a bill signing ceremony at Occoquan Regional Park's The River View at the Jean R. Packard Center and Turning Point Suffragist Memorial. Speakers included NOVA Parks' Executive Director Justin Wilson, Governor Abigail Spanberger, Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi, Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy, Delegate Marcia Price, and Delegate Josh Thomas.

The Turning Point Suffragist Memorial commemorates the women who engaged in the suffragist movement from 1848 through passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which allowed most women to vote. The self-guided memorial is free and open to the public year-round. Learn more at novaparks.com/SuffragistMemorial
