This award has been given each year since 2000 to a Lopez individual, couple or partners who have consistently improved the lives of all Lopezians. These people give to the community in extraordinary ways: unselfishly, reliably, lovingly, with tolerance and integrity.

Join us this Friday, May 9 for an inspiring evening with two Lopez artists: Ann Vandervelde and Peter Cavanagh. The event will open with a gallery show at 5pm, followed by presentations from both artists at 6:30pm.

Ann will share her experience of being an abstract artist, her creative process, and the progression of her work. Peter will discuss his latest book, How Birds Fly: The Science and Art of Avian Flight. This book is a mesmerizing deep dive into one of the greatest wonders of nature — the locomotion of birds.

WOLFCHILD is coming to Lopez Center on January 25th!

This duo has been playing together since their earliest years and have performed on stages such as The Troubadour, Mississippi Studios, “The Egg” (Albany, NY), Folklore (UK), and Java (Paris). Together they weave cathartic storytelling with dynamic soundscapes, from dreamy shoegaze-esk weightless atmosphere, to meditative orchestral overtones, and a rhythmic cinematic sound that could be the love child of Jonsi (Sigur Ros) and Nick Drake.
