Many of you may not know that before Colorado became home, I spent much of my life traveling and the largest part of my childhood into adulthood living in and around Sevier County, East Tennessee.

Dolly Parton was a huge part of growing up there. I remember seeing her in parades as a kid and being more excited to see Dolly come down the street than I ever was to see Santa.

But as I got older, I understood that what made Dolly so special went far beyond her music or having fun at Dollywood. She was a creator, an entrepreneur, a dreamer, and above all, someone who showed through her actions how much good one person could put back into the world.

Her story inspired me and so many others throughout her life. She showed a little kid growing up in rural East Tennessee that you could dream incredibly big, build something of your own, stay true to where you came from, and bring other people up with you.

Now, all these years later, my own kids receive books from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and I get to work with creators and entrepreneurs like her every day.
Getting to pass that little piece of my childhood and her legacy on to others has always felt incredibly special.

Today feels like losing a piece of home.

Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the books, the businesses, the kindness, and for showing generations of creators and entrepreneurs just how much you can build, and how much you can give back along the way. ❤️

Whether you’re looking for fresh baked goods, handmade pottery, original artwork, jewelry, gifts, or just a fun way to spend a Friday evening, there’s something for everyone.

One of my favorite things about First Friday is that every purchase you make supports a local small business. Many of these makers don’t have storefronts, and this market exists to help them grow while bringing more people downtown to discover all of the amazing businesses that are already here.

Bring a chair, wear your brightest neon, and come enjoy a summer evening with us. We can’t wait to see everyone!
