Artemis Flower Farm

Artemis Flower Farm I am a flower farmer and floral designer. I grow and arrange uncommonly beautiful blooms. We have flowers available from May through October.

Farmette Flowers is a seasonal, organic flower farm and full-service floral design studio located at the Treehouse Farm Collective in Boulder, Colorado. Run by Helen Skiba, a Colorado native, and a team of young farmers, Farmette Flowers specializes in hard-to-find, unusual, and delicate varieties. We grow a wide array of colors, species, and cultivars, and we love making unique, seasonally-inspi

red arrangements. Our amazing blooms are available to local weddings, florists, and to our flower share members. We can also take special orders for your dinner table, birthdays, or other special events.

Our excellent employee Jane showing off a huge and very heavy load of poppy pods! They grew so tall with the May rains this year, and grew fat round pods for fresh and dried cuts. One of my favorites! We sow them outside in February and let the freeze and thaw germinate them. Then a few rounds of weeding leaves us with big beautiful poppy plants. These are QIS Bowling Ball and Ziar Breadseed poppies, both Papaver orientalis.

The past few weeks have been filled with strawflower, one of my favorite crops. It’s so distinctive, so generous and so good for drying, and in such wonderful colors.

There’s absolutely nothing like fresh lavender in the summer. Its cooling and calming scent helps us through these hot days on the downturn from solstice to fall equinox. Come and get your medicine from the farm stand this weekend ✨💜

The rainy spring brought lots of things to the farm - cloud banks of mosquitoes, weeds like trees - but also this extremely happy Café Crème foxglove (Digitalis lanata). We’ll take our small wins!

Peonies are HERE! They are at our farm stand 7 days a week and tomorrow only at from 8am-1pm. Don’t miss these fleeting weeks of the biggest and most fragrant blooms of the year! Fun fact - did you know that the town of Paonia on the western slope was named for the Latin name for peonies? Did you know we have 14 peony varieties and over 700 plants on the farm? My favorite is Bartzella 💛

Something about poppies is so special —they’re exuberant but delicate, full of movement but so very simple, textural and detailed but also a fleeting impression — Nelson tried to capture their magic with this arrangement today. I think it’s perfect. ✨

Happy Equinox to all! This special day marks 8 weeks before our last frost, and means that the sun warms the earth for longer than it is cooled in the night. Perennials are waking up along with the meadowlarks and earthworms. Outdoor tulips are poking through their mulch. And the beautiful overwintered poppies are starting their grand show. We hope this time brings you great optimism, energy, and joy! 🌱

Scenes from the farm over the past week. It’s been a long winter getting to know our baby and ourselves as parents, and we’re slowly emerging like the little green shoots on the trees. What a pleasure to welcome our two new employees, Erin & Jane, who jumped right into learning the farm. I told them after 2 days I felt like I’d gotten 3 months of work done because everything they did had been on our to-do list for that long 😂 This will be the sweetest season yet!
