Every gown that has a train, should have a wrist loop. This is generally a ribbon type loop near the bottom of the inside of the train. Many people think it's purpose is to loop over a hanger to get the train off the floor when the gown is hanging, when in fact, that is not the purpose or intent of the loop. Granted, it does keep the train off the floor, however, it's original purpose was to pick the train up off the floor while the gown was being worn, so the bride could eliminate the train fabric from dragging on the floor/ground behind her, getting soiled, caught, torn, or damaged. It's generally used either before the train is bustled, or if there are no bustle points on the gown, can be used to pick up the train while the gown is being worn. Generally, from the time the gown is put on, until it is actually bustled, the wrist loop can be used to make walking easier, and is a more flattering way to pick up the train, vs. grabbing the sides or back of the dress to hoist the skirts up off the floor. Many manufacturers put their branded ribbon in this area, which can easily be changed to a piece of satin or grosgrain ribbon, so the bride is not "advertising" her gown while using the wrist loop.

BUSTLES: A way to lift the train of the skirt off the floor to allow easier movement ( walking, dancing, sitting, etc.) without having all that fabric dragging behind you.
Bustles come in different shapes and forms. The two most popular are Traditional Bustles and French Bustles.

With French bustles, the fabric is brought up underneath the skirt and secured with hooks/eyes, buttons/loops or ribbons.
Traditional bustles pick the train up from the floor and attach it to the outside of the skirt by hooks/eyes, buttons/loops or ribbon ties.
Bustles come in odd number "points", depending on the size of the train. Starting at the center seam, and working outward, left and right, there may be one, three, five, seven, etc. points to evenly pick the train up from the floor. If there are under slips, they too, may be bustled independently from the over skirt. It's best to ask your seamstress for a diagram of the bustle points, as on your wedding day, with all the excitement, your assistant may not remember the bustling instructions, especially if there are multiple points and layers.
