We are saddened to share the passing of Len Kennett, PGA-a legendary figure whose contributions to the game of golf in Los Angeles County have left an indelible mark on the industry and the many lives he touched.
Len's journey in golf began as a caddie and Assistant Golf Professional at LA County's Santa Anita Golf Course. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was appointed Head Golf Professional at Camp Pendleton Golf Course, followed by a distinguished tenure at San Gabriel Country Club. His career continued at Los Verdes Golf Course and Lakewood Country Club, two public facilities proudly operated by American Golf Corporation. Throughout his decades of dedicated service, Len was known for his integrity, leadership, and deep passion for the game. More than a professional, he was a mentor, a friend, and a steward of golf's core values.
"We are grateful for the years of thoughtful mentorship Len offered-not only to our team but to countless individuals throughout the Southern California golf community," said Jorge A. Badel, PGA Community Engagement Director at American Golf Corporation. "His passion helped shape the region's public golf landscape and inspired future generations of golf professionals."
This is a profound loss for our industry. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Kennett family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The next time you visit Lakewood Country Club in Lakewood, CA, we encourage you to pause and take a stroll across the Len Kennett Bridge-a fitting tribute to a life well-lived and a legacy that continues to guide and inspire our community.
