Story time! 🖤🖤 This is what happens when you trust your vendors and give them a little creative freedom.
This gorgeous bride really trusted me when it came to her overall vision, and this bouquet ended up being one of those designs that continued to evolve as we got closer to the wedding.
One thing she really wanted was carnivorous plants in her bouquet, especially sarracenia. I reached out far and wide trying to get cut stems only to be told none would be available the week of her wedding. So….I bought a few plants and grew them myself. And yes, I even saved rainwater from our last big rain to water them with because I was fully committed at that point. They didn’t grow quite as big as I hoped, but I was still able to water pick some of them into the bouquet and I also supplemented with some custom made faux ones.
Then I saw a trend where florists were adding lace to anthuriums and I immediately thought “wait, I want to try this in her calla lilies” I sent her that reel to ask what she thought and she said, “go for it!” Even better, we used the lace from her mom’s wedding dress. I carefully cut pieces of the lace and applied them to the callas, and I love how they turned out.
Then about two month before the wedding, she sent me an inspiration photo because she loved the look of the florals trailing down from the bouquet. Obviously I jumped at the chance, you know I can’t say no to a little drama!
The final piece to this very personal wedding bouquet was using scrap silk from her dress as the ribbon around the stems!
This bouquet took hours to come together between stringing the floral, cutting the lace, and working in the sarracenia. I absolutely love how it turned out and more importantly, so did the bride!
It was a little moody, romantic, dramatic, unique, and completely personal to her. It fit the wedding vibe perfectly!

This is one of my favorite parts of what I do. Give me the things you love, the meaningful little details, and some room to be creative and you’ll get a unique piece of art! 🖤

When is the last time you played? Done something just for the pure enjoyment of it? I had a vision of draping, weeping floating florals. My inspiration? Monet’s Water Lilies and Ophelia by John Everett Millais. I wanted this little corner of the pool to feel overgrown but dreamy. When I play I don’t want to follow rules or do anything by the book. I was super grateful to be able to use Syndicate Sales, Inc. Aquagrid to create this piece for their

I’ll be using the Aquagrid for a wedding I have in September, so this allowed me to get more familiar and hands on with it. You never want to use anything for the first time at an event!!

I posted earlier how easy the aqua grid is to snap together. Other things I learned (the hard way, because sometimes that’s the best way to learn):

1. You need more than 1 person. This was just me.
2. If you go no foam then you need to make a big chicken wire ball and water tube everything that needs good hydration.
3. Symmetry is king. Mine was asymmetrical and definitely wanted to tip over.

All in all I’m happy with the way it turned out barring my complications. But there’s always a silver lining. I know how to expertly use it. And now you do too!

In 2021, she launched her floral business after years of freelancing and working in shops, driven by a passion for floristry and a vision to create something uniquely her own. With certified classical training from the Judith Blacklock School in London and valuable mentorship from Tyler of TK Floral Design, she's learned the importance of mastering the rules to break them—blending tradition and innovation in her work. Currently, she designs branding florals for Too Faced Cosmetics and creates beautiful arrangements for weddings and other events, always aiming to perfectly reflect each client’s unique vision.

We are so incredible PROUD of Melissa's Journey- and her growth has been absolutely remarkable. We can't wait for her to share more of her IMPACTFUL Testimony with all of you!
