🐴 NOW HIRING — AM BARN HELP 🐴

Black Oak Ranch is looking for a reliable, hardworking person to join our team for morning barn help Monday–Friday.

Responsibilities include:
• Feeding horses
• Cleaning stalls
• Watering horses
• Sweeping aisles
• General barn chores & upkeep
• Miscellaneous ranch duties as needed

Experience with horses is preferred, but the most important qualities are reliability, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working around horses and being part of a busy, professional barn environment.

‼️ UPDATE FROM Mikenzie Payne - UPDATE- guys she has been picked up and is on her way to a vet right now! She is in very rough shape. We are hoping for the best!”

🚨 PLEASE SHARE — LET’S GET THIS MARE SOMEWHERE SAFE 🚨

There was recently a “for sale” ad circulating for a Mustang mare who appeared to be in extremely poor condition near Marshall, Missouri. The ad has since been taken down, but I would really like to do whatever I can to help make sure this mare ends up in the right hands and has an opportunity to recover.

If anyone knows the name of the woman who had her listed and has the ability and availability to take this mare in, please reach out to me.

I am not in a position to take her myself, but I am willing to sponsor the $600 rehoming fee to help make it possible for her to get to a safe place and begin the road to recovery.

I don’t want anything in return — I simply want to see this mare given a chance.

If you know who has her or know of someone reputable who can take her in, please message me or tag them below.

‼️ Not pictured: the glamorous side of owning a ranch ‼️

Sawdust from cleaning stalls.
Grass clippings from mowing.
Fly spray from spraying horses.
Sweat from doing pretty much everything else.

And somehow, this is exactly where I want to be.

There’s nothing glamorous about the daily grind of keeping a ranch running — but there’s a whole lot of pride in looking around at the end of the day and knowing it’s taken care of and we have a barn full of happy and healthy horses.

The boots get dirty. The clothes get ruined. The work gets done…

Welcome to Black Oak Ranch.

Due to a complaint filed with the city regarding our planned mounted shooting event, we are unfortunately no longer able to move forward with hosting it. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to attending.

Unfortunately, there are several misconceptions about the sport of mounted shooting. Contrary to what has been reported, participants do not use live ammunition. Riders use specially designed black-powder blank cartridges to break balloon targets, which have an effective range of approximately 10–20 feet and are designed specifically for this purpose.

While we are disappointed that misinformation ultimately led to the cancellation of this event, we appreciate the support and understanding of those who took the time to learn about the sport before forming an opinion. We look forward to bringing other events to the community in the future.
