“There will be light!” 💜🎶✨

The lights have gone down, the set is quiet, and our run of Next to Normal has officially come to an end.

To every person who walked through the doors of LionHeart Hall and chose to spend an evening with the Goodman family: thank you.

Thank you for laughing with us. For crying with us. For sitting with the uncomfortable moments. For allowing this story to be messy, complicated, painful, funny, hopeful, and human.

And thank you for filling these seats! We are incredibly grateful to have ended this journey with sold-out performances at Lionheart Hall full of people willing to experience this story alongside us. Seeing this space filled night after night (and especially during our final performances) meant more than we can put into words!

Next to Normal reminds us that there may not always be an easy answer or a perfect ending. Sometimes moving forward simply means choosing to keep going… to reach for the people around us, to find hope in the middle of uncertainty, and to believe that somewhere ahead, there will be light.

To our extraordinary cast and understudies: thank you for the vulnerability, courage, and heart you brought to these characters. To our directors, designers, tech crew, production team, and everyone behind the scenes: thank you for giving so much of yourselves to this story.

And to our audiences… whether you already loved this musical, experienced it for the first time, traveled to see it, or found pieces of your own story reflected on our stage: thank you for being here.

We hope you left the show with something…
A little more compassion.
A little more understanding.
A reminder that you are not alone.
And, hopefully, a little more light. 💜

What a beautiful, heartbreaking, unforgettable journey… From all of us at Next to Normal, thank you for showing up for this beautiful story!

💜 “This show is heavy, but it’s healing.”

For Director Micah Coombs, Next to Normal has always been about authenticity.

In this conversation, Micah shares why this story is so personal to him, how he sees pieces of himself in Dan, and how deeply he’s been moved by the vulnerability Landon Weeks has brought to the role. He also talks about the care that went into preparing our cast to tell a story this emotionally complex—from conversations with a therapist to hearing firsthand experiences with bipolar disorder and mental illness.

And maybe most importantly, he speaks to what makes Next to Normal so extraordinary: you can experience it again and again and walk away affected by something completely different each time.
It can make you laugh. It can break your heart. It can make you recognize pieces of yourself—or someone you love—in these characters. And through all of it, there is the reminder that whatever someone may be carrying, they aren’t the only one carrying it.

Tonight, we tell this story one final time.

Apparently the counter has been calling to Gabe… and he answered 🎸😂

But in all seriousness, we couldn’t let closing day pass without showing some love for the incredible Chase Summers as Gabe Goodman! 💜

Chase brings something truly unforgettable to this role. His Gabe is magnetic, heartbreaking, haunting, and somehow full of so much life. From the huge energy of “I’m Alive” to the quiet moments that hit you when you least expect them, he has created a Gabe who lingers with you long after the lights go down.

The vocals. The presence. The emotion. The complexity. Chase Summers has absolutely poured himself into this character, and watching him bring Gabe to life each night has been something truly special.

And TODAY is your LAST CHANCE to see him (and this entire incredible cast) in Next to Normal at LionHeart Hall!

One final performance. One final “I’m Alive.” One final night with the Goodman family. 💜

Raw, riveting, and unexpectedly funny, Next to Normal is the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical that has captivated audiences around the world.

There is so much thought and care behind every single moment of Timo Rasmussen’s performance… 💜

In Next to Normal, Timo Rasmussen takes on not one, but two very different roles: Dr. Fine and Dr. Madden (aka Dr. Rock 🤘) who are two doctors with very different approaches to Diana’s treatment.

The care and attention that Timo has put into portraying them is truly remarkable! Before stepping into these roles, Timo spent time researching modern mental health treatments and thinking deeply about the people behind them. That work shows in every scene.

His Dr. Madden is beautifully compassionate and grounded; never approaching Diana from a place of judgment, but as someone genuinely trying to listen, understand, and create a space where another person feels safe enough to open up. Timo brings such a calmness and humanity to the role, while still allowing us to see the complicated realities of treatment that Next to Normal asks its audience to consider.

And then somehow, the same guy turns around and gives us the iconic moments of Dr. Fine in “My Psychopharmacologist And I” AND the Dr. Rock persona when we first meet Dr. Madden! THE RANGE! 🤘😂 💜

Timo is an incredibly thoughtful actor, and we’re so grateful for the research, intention, empathy, and heart he has poured into this production!

🎥 Check out this BTS video to hear Timo talk about the work behind his characters, the difference between Dr. Fine and Dr. Madden, what he believes effective therapy can look like, and why he hopes this story can help audiences see mental health through a different lens.
And if you want to see all of that work come alive onstage, there is only ONE performance left. 💜

Natalie spends so much of this story feeling invisible… but Molly Gordon makes her unforgettable! 💜

From the quietest moments to the raw grief emotions to the vocals like THIS, Molly Gordon brings so much heart, honesty, and depth to Natalie in Next to Normal!

Natalie spends much of the story trying to find her place in a family consumed by grief… wanting to be seen, wanting to be heard, and trying to figure out who she is outside of everything happening around her.
Molly captures all of it so beautifully! Her Natalie is funny, guarded, frustrated, vulnerable, fiercely independent, and incredibly human.

And her vocals are absolutely STUNNING! 👏

This clip from “Superboy and the Invisible Girl,” featuring Molly alongside the incredible Chase Summers as Gabe, is one of those moments where the acting and vocals become completely inseparable. The emotion builds and builds until there’s nowhere else for it to go… and Molly delivers it every single night!

There are only TWO performances left to experience Next to Normal live here in Cache Valley! 💜

Apparently Henry’s been hiding some moves! 🕺💜

You know Adrean Gonzalez Vasquez as our heartfelt, lovable Henry in Next to Normal… but what you might not know is that Adrean is ALSO the choreographer behind this production! 👀

Onstage, Adrean brings so much warmth, sincerity, and heart to Henry, the person who keeps showing up for Natalie through all the messiness. His portrayal is sweet without ever feeling simple, and he brings such a genuine presence to every moment he’s onstage!

And offstage? Well… clearly the man can DANCE 👏🤩

Adrean is truly one of those people who seems to be able to do it all. He’s given us such a warm, sincere, beautifully grounded Henry while simultaneously helping bring the entire production to life through his work as choreographer. The talent! The heart! The RANGE! 👏

As our choreographer, Adrean has helped shape the movement of Next to Normal and the way this story physically comes to life onstage. We’re so lucky to have someone who brings this much talent, heart, and apparently secret Backstreet Boys choreography to our little Goodman family. 💜

Come see Adrean Gonzalez Vasquez as Henry & his choreography throughout the show! Only THREE performances left!
