With Valentine's Day just around the corner you will most likely be seeing a lot of ads for 800-Flowers, FTD, TeleFlora, ProFlowers and other 'order gathering' flower companies. These companies never even touch a flower!

Did you know when you shop at 1-800-flowers, Avas Flowers, Terrys Flowers, For You Flowers, etc, you are actually paying more for your order, getting less and giving your money to a large corporation?

1-800-flowers charges you a $14.99 service fee and an additional $2.99 for a Saturday delivery. When you click the service fee icon they show a picture of a florist hand delivering your order and explain that your order is hand delivered by a florist. While that is true they do not give the delivering florist that $15.00 service charge to deliver or the $2.99 for the Saturday delivery. In fact, they do not give the delivering florist anything to deliver. They also keep 27% of the posted price of the flowers and give the florist making the order no delivery fee and 73% of the bouquet price to make and deliver your arrangement.

If your order is $69.99 plus the service fee of $14.99 plus the $2.99 Saturday charge, you pay $87.97 plus tax.
The florist is given $51.08.

You are then getting a $41.08 arrangement and $10 to deliver.

The moral of the story is to Shop Local. You get a better product and put your money into your community and help a small business keep jobs local.

Looking for extra help for the next two weeks at a local flower shop. Nights, weekends or days if you know anyone interested please and them my way. This would be a non experience position of cutting flowers, helping with delivering flowers,loading up and general clean up. Thanks! 770-914-0102

Getting wedding ready

Today I saw a video that made me tear up. An elderly veteran on hospice wanted to get a meal with his wife at a local pizza restaurant. There he sat with his oxygen tubes and oxygen machine and his cap that identified his branch of service in a long past war. In the same restaurant a Middle School choir was also enjoying lunch. Several of them saw him and started to sing the national anthem. The entire choir stood up, faced him, and joined in singing. This old and broken down warrior struggled to stand, placed his hand/cap over his heart, and wept as the choir sang. The humble and noble expression on his face said everything to me. There stands a true hero. Also, the actions of these kids tell me that even though some people say America is bruised, she for sure ain't broken. God bless us all. (This is a positive and heartwarming story that I hope is shared by all who read it.).

Sometimes, heroes show up in the most unlikely ways.
Polish silver medalist in Javelin throw Maria Andrejczyk, who is also a devout Catholic, sold her Olympic medal in auction to find money for the heart surgery of a Polish boy. Polish store chain Zabka won the auction with a bid of $125,000, but they returned the medal back to her 🇵🇱
