Gulitti claims biggest check of the weekend
The Big Texan $50,000 shootout was a wild one with some of the best racers from across the country competing for one of the biggest paydays in Texas bracket racing history.
64 entries staged up for Round 1 and by the time we made it to the Quarter Finals we had 8 of the best ready to battle it out in Randall Reed, Spencer Massey, Cory Gulitti, Jeff Serra, Jake Clayton, Anthony Livengood, Curt Harvey, and Rocky McLain.
The round started hot with Livengood laying down .006 total which locked out Clayton after an .008 let go. Harvey got the best of McLain after a .016 total run to lock out Rocky’s .022 reaction time. Jeff Serra had the best lap of the round laying down .003 total to beat Massey who was .005 take .003 to be under the dial. Gulitti claimed the last winlight of the round who was .012 take .003 to beat Reed who was .018 and .015 above the dial.
The semis saw two of the best locally and two of the best in the world square off. Livengood slid by Harvey after Curt let go -.002 too soon. Gulitti sent himself to the final after beating Jeff Serra with a .013 package. Serra was .010 and .014 under the dial.
This set the stage for the biggest final of the weekend as Cory Gulitti and Anthony Livengood would face off for $50,000 and the Gold Cowboy hat. Gulitti would cap off his victory in style with a .000 reaction time and stopping the clocks 4.322 on his 4.31 dial. Livengood would have to settle for Runner Up as he was .028 and .014 under the dial.
