✨ Let’s talk about putting out those behind-the-scenes wedding day fires… because wedding setup is rarely JUST setting up.
This weekend was the perfect example.
We arrived ready to tackle a beautiful, simple and elegant setup for around 100 guests. But as we got started, we discovered the bride’s LED candles didn’t have batteries in them… and there were no batteries on site.
Did I mention there were OVER 100 candles?! 😅
Fire #1 handled. ✔️
Then came the place settings.
We discovered that the plates needed to be washed and cleaned before they could be placed on the tables — something that was not originally accounted for in our setup time. So, we washed and cleaned enough plates for approximately 100 guests before we could even begin setting them.
And then… the silverware.
Every. Single. Piece. of the rented silverware came individually wrapped in plastic.
So before those beautiful place settings you see in the finished photos could happen, our team was opening individual pieces of silverware over and over and over again. Fork by fork. Knife by knife. Spoon by spoon.
Did I mention the cloth napkins all needed to be folded and have a napkin ring placed on them? But wait theres more haha the pearls on the napkin rings kept popping off…oh and they were all individually wrapped as well!
And THIS is why I always say that sometimes the simplest-looking weddings are actually some of the most tedious to execute.
This wedding included 12 guest tables PLUS the memory table, gift table, dessert table, bar setup and all of the little details throughout the space.
It took a team of FOUR a total of SEVEN HOURS of nonstop work to bring everything together.
Seven hours of washing, unwrapping, placing, styling, adjusting, problem solving, folding napkins, installing batteries, lighting candles, perfecting tables and handling every unexpected little thing that popped up along the way.
Because wedding-day setup isn’t just “putting out decorations.”
It’s walking into a space with a plan and being able to pivot when that plan suddenly includes washing 100 plates, unwrapping hundreds of pieces of silverware and figuring out how on earth you’re going to light 100+ battery-less candles. 😂
And the best part?
The bride doesn’t have to worry about ANY of it. 🤍
By the time our couples walk into their finished space, our goal is that they have absolutely no idea about the little fires we put out behind the scenes.
They just get to walk in, take it all in and see the pretty part. ✨
And THAT is exactly why having a wedding-day setup team is worth it. 🤍
