With October starting tomorrow Im getting more and more excited to help produce and execute the Shanti W**ery Stomp, Pour, & Pair event on Sunday Oct 18th, in partnership with the Livermore Valley W**e Community association, during TASTE: A Livermore Valley W**e Experience.

One of the best parts about this event is the other local businesses I can to plan it with, including Bluebirds Chocolate who is pairing their handmade chocolate bars with Shanti's estate produced Sangiovese, Barbera, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and The Grazing Cart by Mrs. B who is creating delicious charcuterie cups for everyone filled with many of my favorite meats and cheeses as well as fruits, nuts, and more.

Bluebirds Chocolate and The Grazing Cart by Mrs B will also be selling additional goodies for event attendees to enjoy at the event or to go. They will be joined by additional vendors including Everlynks permanent jewelry and Tallowlujah skincare.

There are two timeslots to attend the event, 12-2 pm or 2-4 pm and there are only 60 spaces in each slot. We have sold over 30 tickets in each timeslot already so grab yours before they are gone, link in my BIO, CHEERS.

Uninformed optimism is over for me, lolololol. I'm always open to being an informed pessimist (I dont mean I should stay here, I'm just saying I'm okay being in this phase for a bit). But what I won't do is spend the next 20 years in this 6 month cycle on repeat. Im either sticking it out or getting a regular standard job. For now Im sticking it out and at times I experience informed optimism and now I'm working on maximizing the good and accepting that not every day will be good and not every client will be fabulous and thats okay.

Events and functions have become the lifeblood of my business and I guess that's really not a shocker.

Prior to starting my business in February I had over a decade of experience overseeing or supporting events and functions that centered around business networking and economic development (through both the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce), nonprofit fundraising (for Bradley Angle, Elgin Academy, and AIM Youth Mental Health), w**e & tourism (through helping develop and oversee The Global AVA) and community development and social services for Alameda County District 1.

Through my business I have been able to lead or support events and functions in all of these sectors as well.

For w**e & tourism I have had the pleasure of supporting the The Festival of Undiscovered Grapes and Cabfrancapalooza. And next month Im helping lead the Stomp, Pour, and Pair event at Shanti W**ery during TASTE, the annual Livermore Valley W**e Community experience.

For business and economic development I'm supporting the Livermore Valley Chamber with promotion of their Livermore Valley Marketplace App. I planned, promoted, and oversaw the 1 year in business anniversary celebration of the Sunol Country Store and I also had the pleasure of helping my dear friend Gillian host her grand opening launch event for GYM Mercantile.

In the area of nonprofit fundraising, last month I led the efforts for the 1st ever Sunol Business Guild fundraiser event A Stroll in Sunol: Pours, Picnics, & Paws and together we raised over $7,000 in profit for their mission and I can't wait to raise more than that next year. Ive just begun the process of creating the Save the Date and Sponsorship Opportunities packet for the 1st gala fundraiser for California We the People/Project Citizen happening on December 9th. I'm in discussions with 2 other nonprofits about events in 2027.

In the community and business development sector (because they should and often do go hand in hand), Ive thoroughly enjoyed planning and executing 5 monthly Sunol Community Markets at the Sunol Country Store and am very excited to host 2 more in October.

The pics in this reel arent great, and yes some of them are AI, because often Im the one taking the pictures at the events.

As a former full time nonprofit and not-for-profit development professional Ive had this conversation many times. If you cant compensate your employees a competitive living wage you have no business running a nonprofit (same goes for running a for profit ofcourse). Adult workers of all industries deserve to be able to support themselves (rent in either shared living with a private room or a studio, 3 meals a day of a complete diet, healthcare for reasonably priced doc visits and meds etc, reliable efficient transportation which in many places isnt offered through public transit, and some funds for household and personal necessities) working 1 full time job.

The nonprofit sector is built on people—and how we invest in those people matters.

Nonprofit professionals are asked every day to tackle some of our communities’ most complex challenges, often while organizations face real funding constraints and pressure to keep overhead low.

This Newsweek opinion piece raises an important issue for our sector: we cannot talk seriously about equity, sustainability, and impact without also addressing how nonprofit professionals are compensated.

For funders, boards, nonprofit leaders, and everyone who cares about a strong nonprofit sector, this is a conversation worth having.

What would it take to build a sector where fair, sustainable compensation is viewed as an investment in impact—not simply an expense?

We’d love to hear your thoughts.
