WE HEARD THE TWIN CITIES WERE REAAAAAL QUEER—that’s just the way we like it 😘💜

Let us introduce ourselves: we’re HAIRPINS, a mobile pop-up party for le****ns, q***rs, and gender-diverse cuties looking for a good time and a place to find one another in cities and regions where permanent le***an bars don’t exist, and we’re coming to Urban Growler Brewing Company in St. Paul THIS NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!

Now, even though we’re usually hosting events down south (Arkansas, Texas, Missouri), we LOVE the midwestern q***rs, and we’re ready to learn a little something about that Minnesota Nice we keep hearing about 🤭 We’ve gotten an INCREDIBLE taste of it so far from our friends at A Bar of Their Own and The Brass Strap, and we absolutely cannot wait to dance with the gorgeous community they’ve been building in the Twin Cities for a hot minute.

One thing Hairpins loves to do is amplify q***r stories and projects whenever we can, that’s why we’re extra excited to announce that ticket proceeds for this event will be donated in support of production for AWE the Film, a feature film in development that tells the exceptional true story of loud and proud q***r Minnesota-native Ann Bancroft and the 1992 all-women’s expedition she led accross Antartica.

We are so excited to party with all of you, to get the know the Twin Cities q***r community even more, to support Ann, and—we can’t believe it—launch Hairpins in a whole new state 🥹 Because it’s past time for sapphics and gender-diverse folks to have more than a handful of third places to call home in this country.

WHO DO YOU WANT TO SOAK? 👀👀

Super SoakHER is taking over Tower Grove Pride this Saturday, and some very brave volunteers are already stepping up to take the Wet Seat for their communities 💦🏳️‍🌈

Here’s how it works: volunteers choose an organization they want to support, climb into the Wet Seat, and you donate for your chance to SOAK ’EM. A portion of every donation goes directly to the organization they’re getting drenched for.

We’ve already got volunteers representing some incredible St. Louis organizations and businesses, BUT we need at least FOUR more people willing to get wet for their community. Think you can handle it?

We are incredibly grateful for the organizations joining us as resource vendors our Hairpins EDU: LGBTQ+ Legal Right & Preparedness Workshop THIS THURSDAY.

Our resource fair will bring together legal experts, advocates, community organizations, and other trusted resources with the shared goal to help q***r Arkansans better understand their rights, know what support is available for them and their families, and feel more prepared for whatever comes their way. Before our legal panel begins, you’ll have 45 minutes to meet these organizations directly, ask questions, pick up resources, shed make connections!

It’s not too late—join us for this FREE EVENT Thursday, September 24 starting at 6pm at The Nest in Little Rock. All ages welcome, free food and drinks provided ⚖️💜

Meet the panelists for our first Hairpins EDU: LGBTQ+ Legal Rights & Preparedness Workshop happening ONE WEEK from today!

We’re bringing together three Arkansas legal professionals with expertise spanning family court, civil rights, estate planning, and legal preparedness for a conversation about what LGBTQ+ Arkansans should know to protect themselves, their families, and their futures.

Joining us is Judge Amy Moore, Family Court Judge, 6th Judicial District of Arkansas; Shelby Shroff, Staff Attorney, ACLU of Arkansas; and Eli Bauer, Partner, Wright Lindsey Jennings.

We are incredibly grateful to these three for sharing their expertise with our community. There will be time for audience questions for our legal experts following the panel.

What an honor it is for Hairpins to be recognized as a finalist alongside two other extraordinary businesses for this year’s Little Rock Regional Chamber Minority Emerging Business of the Year!

It’s impossible to put into words what the last two years has meant to us in regards to the beautiful q***r community we’ve come to know and love across states and regions, but especially in our home region of Little Rock. Dancing with you all is the greatest joy of our life.

More importantly, it cannot be understated how proud we are of our city for recognizing a proudly q***r-owned, q***r-operated, and unapologetically q***r- and trans- facing business. Representation is important and necessary across the board, but representation in and recognition by places of leadership (whether we want this to be true or not) is how change happens.

This video and the story of Hairpins will be played at a special awards luncheon next week to a room full of heterosexual city and state officials and professionals. Opening up their world to the good we are able to do when we create spaces for community is a win whether we take home the award or not.

Thank you for being Hairpins. Thank you for this community. Thank you, thank you, thank you 💜

Hairpins is popping up for its first ever activation at towergrovepride with SUPER SOAKHER!

Here’s the thing, this activation won’t work if we don’t get volunteers to bravely sign up for The Wet Seat™️. We’re looking for business owners, community members, prominent figures, or anyone willing to get squirted on (with a water gun) for a good cause—sign up for a 30-minute time slot between 12-6pm on September 26. During that time, Pride-goers can pay $5 to get you absolutely drenched; 50% of proceeds will go to an organization of your choosing, the other 50% will support future Dropping Hairpins Project programming.
