Five years ago today, I launched Gretchen Larkan Events.
At the time, I was newly married, still working my corporate 9–5, and honestly terrified to turn my favorite hobby into a career. Within the first year, I left my job in operations and had a fully booked calendar of events.
When I think about the last five years, I’m not most proud of the events I’ve planned or the milestones I’ve reached. I’m most grateful for the people—the couples and families, many of my very best friends, who trusted me with some of the most important days of their lives. The vendor friends who became true friends. The community that has supported me, encouraged me, and made this job so much more meaningful. And the incredible support system that has stepped in time and time again, helping me balance running a business while being present as a mom.
I’m thankful for every step the Lord has guided and every day that I get to do work I truly love. Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, trusted, and cheered me on along the way.
Here’s to the past five years—and all that the next five have in store.
