The wedding planning advice I wish more couples heard before they started signing contracts 👀
Book your planner before your venue.
A beautiful venue can come with expensive restrictions. Your planner knows to look at access, required vendors, catering rules, power, parking, rentals and production limitations before you commit.
Your guest count controls your budget.
It’s not just meals. More guests = more tables, chairs, linens, florals, stationery, staffing, bar and sometimes a larger venue.
Don’t spend your entire budget on vendors.
Taxes, service charges, gratuities, delivery fees, permits and last-minute expenses add up FAST. Leave breathing room.
“Venue included” doesn’t always mean free.
Those included chairs aren’t saving you money if you hate them and rent 200 new ones anyway. 😅
Ask about load-in BEFORE booking.
That elaborate design means nothing if your vendors only have two hours to install it.
Instagram is NOT vendor due diligence.
Pretty work doesn’t tell you how someone communicates, handles pressure or actually performs on event day.
Your rain plan should be a GOOD plan.
“We’ll just move it inside” is not enough. Where? When? Who moves it? What happens to the design?
Your floor plan matters more than Pinterest.
Guests need to move. Servers need pathways.
Photographers need sightlines. Your event has to function AND look good.
Build your timeline around logistics, not tradition.
Photography, cultural traditions, entertainment, transportation and YOUR priorities should determine the flow.
Don’t spend big before allocating the full budget.
That must-have splurge feels different when you realize you still need lighting, rentals and transportation 😂
