Platinum Plus Limos Family and Friends,
Governor Wes Moore declared a State of Preparedness ahead of a historic heat wave expected to impact Maryland from today through July 5.
Forecasts indicate dangerous heat and humidity levels that may significantly increase the risk of heat-related illness, particularly for those working or spending time outdoors.
What is heat stress?
Heat stress occurs when the body cannot cool itself quickly enough through sweating. As body temperature rises, it can affect judgment, reaction time, and physical performance. It can also quickly progress to serious conditions such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Heat-related illnesses can be life-threatening if they are not recognized and treated promptly, but a few simple precautions can help keep you, your employees, and your families safe throughout this period of extreme heat.
Drink water frequently—do not wait until you feel thirsty.
Take regular breaks in shade or air-conditioned spaces.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing whenever possible.
Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
Watch for signs of heat illness such as dizziness, headache, excessive sweating, confusion, or nausea.
Check on coworkers, family members, and neighbors, especially older adults and those with medical conditions.
