CommonSpace Studio had an amazing styled photo shoot at their studio some years back. I was able to participate and add some beautiful work to my portfolio that I probably would have never gotten on my own. Totally out of the norm for me as far as style but I am NOT mad about it lol. Some of my favorite images I've ever taken have come from this session!!

More reminiscing! My UNL partner in crime, Gretchen, is the beautiful model for this series I did while getting my BFA. She was so shy but was down for anything I came up with. An absolutely amazing rockstar photographer in her own right. I was blessed to be able to spend time with her. I miss her. Thank you, Gretchen!!

Important PSA from yours truly!!! 🥰 Hey friends, family, co-workers and colleagues. For those of you who know me, you know that I'm a veteran, you know that I'm a veteran artist, photographer to be specific, You know that I'm a wife to a combat veteran, You know that I'm a mother to a veteran, and you know that I'm a mother to an active duty army soldier. I have been sitting on the board of an amazing nonprofit, New Century Art Guild for some time now. Before I sat on the board, I was one of the veteran artists that they had been helping. New Century Art Guild has supported me in almost every veteran art endeavor and project that I have ever done and they have supported me in many ways. They have supported many other veterans and veteran artists as well. NCAG is currently supporting art therapy programs, run by our art director Troy, for the VA's RRTP program, as one of many endeavors. Now, New Century art Guild, like many other nonprofits, are having financial difficulties at the moment. We have board members who are funding programs with their own money as we have run out. The art therapy programs that are currently being done at the VA are going so well that the VA is asking us to do more. Donations are just coming in. Okay, so here's what it comes down to. I'm asking my loved ones, both friends and family, to help us out. And I know that money's tight for some people and I promise I'm not asking for a lot what I'm asking for, is if I can get even half of my friends and family to donate, even $10 a piece. You just might be able to keep us afloat for quite some time, but if you could do even more, that would be awesome, and if you could pass this on to people you know who would also donate to something as wonderful as this to help veterans with art therapy, that would be even better. Love you guts so much!

We are currently active in 4 states, Nebraska, Iowa, Texas and Oklahoma.

I loved this styled session so much! Need to find another one or come up with my own. 🥰🥰🥰

🔹About NCAG:

New Century Art Guild, Inc, is a 501(c)(3) non- profit corporation registered in the State of Iowa and the State of Nebraska. Our primary mission is to provide training in art and business education to motivated military veteran artists in order that they may successfully pursue new careers in the fine arts as artists, teachers, or administrators. A powerful side benefit from these activities is a substantial reduction of the depression associated with PTSD and the re-integration of these veterans into a fulfilling and useful role in civilian society.

NCAG regularly hosts arts workshops at the Radial Arts Center for Veterans from the local VA’s Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP). The RRTP is a residential program for male and female veterans providing veteran-centered, evidence based treatment in four specialty areas that specifically target veterans’ needs.

I had an amazing opportunity the other day to not only photograph some beautiful Native American women from the Winnebago tribe in Nebraska; but they were military veterans on top of it. This is Merci. She has the most amazing smile and infectious laugh. It was an honor to sit and listen to this Marines story. It's an even bigger honor to be given permission to take her portrait. Thank you Merci for your service and sacrifice.
