Golden hour in Kentucky summer = absolutely worth staying out for!

The soft light. The warm evenings. The lush scenery.

Whether you’re exchanging vows in a garden, downtown, near a waterfall, or tucked into bourbon country… summer gives you a little extra magic.

And yes—we’re fully in support of making your wedding day feel more like a date and less like an event.

The underrated perk of a summer elopement?

You don’t have to end your wedding day early.

Take your time getting ready.
Exchange private vows.
Explore.
Take photos.
Grab dinner.
Watch sunset.

Your wedding deserves more than a quick schedule squeezed into daylight hours ☀️

☀️ Summer in Kentucky just hits different.

Long evenings. Warm sunshine. Green landscapes. No rushing through your wedding day because sunset showed up at 4:45.

One of our favorite parts of summer elopements? You actually get to enjoy the day. Slow mornings, meaningful moments, golden hour portraits, dinner after… and still time left to celebrate.

If you’ve been dreaming about an effortless wedding day that feels relaxed and romantic, summer might just be your season. 🌿

If you’re planning an elopement, micro-wedding, or intimate ceremony in Central Kentucky, you might be wondering:

“Where should we all go to eat afterward?”

The dinner (or brunch!) after your ceremony is often where you finally get to slow down, chat with your people, and really feel married. I love helping couples find group-friendly restaurants in Lexington and surrounding towns like Georgetown, Paris, Versailles, Midway, Nicholasville, Richmond, Berea, and Wi******er.

We can look at:
- Private dining rooms for smaller groups
- Spots that work well for larger wedding parties
- Places with patios and outdoor seating for a more relaxed vibe

If you’d like ideas that fit your guest count, style, and location, comment below or send me a message. I’m happy to help you build a celebration that feels like you.

If no one else has said this to you: you’re allowed to protect your peace on your wedding day.

Choosing an elopement or micro‑wedding doesn’t mean you love your family any less—it means you’re building a day that feels calm, true, and sustainable for you. You can be kind, honest, and still say, ‘This is what we’re doing because it feels right for us.’

Your marriage starts with this choice. It’s okay if that choice puts your well‑being first.

Virtual doesn’t have to be cringey.

You can keep your ceremony tiny and still let a handful of VIPs be there through a simple livestream or a quick FaceTime toast. Or skip the live part and share a highlight video or slideshow later so your people still get to cry happy tears with you.

You’re allowed to use tech in a way that feels supportive, not stressful.

Your dress should work for your day, not against it. If you’re hiking, walking, dancing, or just wanting to stay comfortable and present, your elopement look can still be beautiful without feeling overcomplicated.

Hot take: your timeline should breathe. Give hair, makeup, and travel some buffer time, and tell your people to arrive about 10 minutes early—unless they are ALWAYS late, then tell them to be there 20 minutes early. Chill timeline = chill couple.

Some moments just feel different when your mom is there.

On a wedding day, her presence is this quiet kind of steady—fixing a stray curl, zipping a dress, pinning a boutonniere with shaking hands, reminding you to breathe when the emotions hit all at once. She’s the one who’s seen every version of you and still looks at you with that mix of pride, nostalgia, and “that’s my baby” as you step into a brand‑new chapter.

If you’re lucky enough to have your mom (or a mother‑figure) beside you on your wedding day, pause and soak it in—the hug before you walk down the aisle, the happy tears on her cheeks, the way she squeezes your hand like she’s memorizing the moment. Those are the seconds you’ll carry long after the cake is gone and the flowers have faded.

Telling your family you’re eloping doesn’t have to be a dramatic reveal.

Try this: start with your why—less stress, more presence, something that feels like you. Then follow it up with, ‘We love you and we still want you to be part of this, just in a way that fits us better.’

It shifts the story from ‘we’re excluding you’ to ‘we’re inviting you in differently.’ That’s a big difference.
