Our Season of Discovery continues Saturday night with NYC-based pianist Kelly Moran. She has toured the world with FKA twigs and Oneohtrix Point Never but will be playing her own compositions for the Yamaha Disklavier piano on this special engagement. Composing for the Disklavier allows Moran to perform piano duets by herself, using the programmable capabilities of the Disklavier as one set of hands while she plays the same instrument to accompany herself. You've never seen or heard a piano recital like this before! We have an amazing show for you tonight as part of the SCFA Expansive Sounds Series: Flore Laurentienne is a sextet from the Laurentian region of Quebec, Canada, led by composer and synthesist Mathieu David Gagnon, supported by percussion and string quartet to create a sparkling dialogue between classical and modern music.
Kicking off the evening's activity is Scottish smallpipes phenomenon Brìghde Chaimbeul, who turns her mastery of traditional pipe music into enchanting compositions that emphasize the rich textural drones of the instrument with a constancy of sound that creates a trance-like atmosphere, played with enticing virtuosic liquidity.
Don't miss these two uniquely compelling acts! Show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets available online and at the ticket office tonight: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/71342764/expansive-sounds-series-6flore-laurentienne-wbr%C3%ACghde-chaimbeul-lexington-singletary-center
