Yesterday The American Spiritual Ensemble lead students from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Lafayette High School, Bryan Station High School, and students in our very own Transylvania University choirs in a choral workshop! Students got to work and learn side by side from members and from ASE founder and director Dr. Everett McCorvey. They also got to hear a preview of the new song “God is a God” which ASE is premiering tonight at their concert at 7:00 PM. The Transylvania Choirs will also be joining ASE for two songs this evening! Today the American Spiritual Ensemble will be unveiling their new work “God is a God” commissioned by Lexington native Shawn E. Okpebholo in celebration of Lexington’s 250th anniversary. They will be performing it in their concert that starts at 7:00 PM in Haggin Auditorium. The concert will also feature the Transylvania University choirs.
