One of my favorite things about as a venue is that it is basically a blank canvas. It has beautiful lines, rich textures and a vibe and whimsy that is all created in the carefully curated details of the space. It is a canvas to make your own and to tell your story.

For Katherine and Scott’s wedding we turned the Apiary into an enchanted garden. The florals were soft, colorful and dreamy. As if every stem was foraged and gathered from your grandmother’s backyard. Tapered candles added a touch of elegance. It was simply lovely.

I can remember sitting around my grandmother’s kitchen table with Coca Cola from a bottle and a Dixie cup full of Chex Mix and planning our “menus” for the holidays. It was a ritual I looked forward to every year and always wanted to be included in. The menu didn’t change much from year to year, but we made a production of it just the same. I was maybe 10 or 11 years old but even then I loved the idea of planning a party. Even more than that I loved making lists! All of it brought a smile to my face. I guess it’s no surprise those things stuck with me. I still love to throw a party...they are just on a little grander scale these days. And I am never without a notebook full of plans and to-dos. Those conversations around that kitchen table are some of my favorite memories from my childhood. And every year this season I think back to those simple moments that I cherish with all my heart 💖

I will say that one of my favorite parts of the wedding day is the “reveal” to the bride and groom. If time and logistics allow, I always love to give my couples a moment to take in the reception space before anyone else has entered. So many months go into planning every detail of the space and the experience. I want them to see how we brought their vision to life. And my goal is always... happy tears. It is such a sweet moment that I absolutely cherish and it never gets old💖
