Around the Block Catering takes Joy in preparing & serving smoked meats with homemade sides and desserts for delivery or dine-in at the District 22 Event Center for private family & business events located near Lexington & Cozad, Nebraska. We are located at the District 22 Event Center, a renovated country schoolhouse, 4 miles northwest of Lexington, Nebraska. We have a full service kitchen with a

smoker that can cater any event– business meeting, club or church gathering, wedding reception or rehearsal dinner, quinceañera, or family celebration– bar service, sound system,wifi, cable, overhead projector and screen are also available. District 22 Event Center can accommodate 200 guests while seating 125 comfortably. Whether dining-in or delivery to your destination, we are here to serve you and your guests.>.

Couple of lunches this week: Braised Pork Loin with a Pork Apple Velouté and Roast Beef with Beef Gravy. Velouté - French meaning "velvety" for a thickened light colored sauce vs. Gravy - thickened dark, robust flavored sauce from meat juices - origin maybe French or English. Both ours are GF - cornstarch thickened. Velouté or Gravy - both enhance the meat! Enjoy!

Making the mango salsa, Shanna and Sandy used the Pampered Chef Mango Wedger to get the side pieces and then the glass method was used to remove the fruit from the skin before dicing it - worked super slick. ☠Argh Matey, what are we having for supper? The Pineapple Parrot oversees the Mango Salsa that was served with the Jerk Chicken Taco. Limes and Garlic Lime Crema drizzled the Fish Taco. Rice and Black Bean Salad, Hot Crab Dip and Chips, and choice of fresh fruit completed the meal for the RareJul "Pirates of the Caribbean" theme golf tournament fundraiser. Always a "treasure" to serve this worthy cause.

Recently we served Madeline & Sam's wedding. One of the entrees was Beef Tips and Mashed Potatoes with Green Beans and Strawberry Spinach Salad - a GF menu. We also made DF mashed potatoes for a few guests. The one guest asked for the recipe because he hadn't had "real mashed potatoes in years". So for his benefit and all other DF guests, Enjoy! Last evening a client wanted an "upscale meal" for his guests. We served a New York Strip with Pizzaiola, Hot Italian Pasta, Roasted Asparagus with Lemon, Watermelon Salad with Watermelon Vinaigrette (new recipe - refreshingly tasty) and finished with Chocolate Truffle Cookies.

Waffle Bars for graduation parties! Most recently we served a morning brunch for my employee, Whitney. Two weeks earlier we served an afternoon brunch for Ella. We provide waffles, toppings, fruit, and sausage links (and sometimes ice cream for a dessert waffle). Then we let the guests create their personal waffle!
Congratulations Whitney and Ella! May God guide as you journey thru life.

We have a full service kitchen and a liquor license, therefore we can accommodate all family celebrations and business meetings up to 200 guests while seating 125 comfortably. District 22 Event Center is handicapped accessible, has plenty of parking and is equipped with wifi and audio & video equipment.“This is a great place to host family gatherings” and “it is private” are comments we hear often.

We take Joy and Time in preparing Smoked Brisket, Prime Rib with J’s Horseradish Sauce, Pulled Pork, and Mediterranean Chicken. These are just some of the meats served along with our homemade sides.
